See The Winner Of August 2025's Meme Of The Month!

And the meme of August 2025 goes to …

The hot new slur for robots and AI, "Clanker!" The term spread to every corner of the internet over the past month as the cool way to show your hatred for robots, whether it's a simple food delivery bot or your friend's Roomba. "Clanker" originates from the Star Wars franchise and has been a niche meme in their community since the 2010s. Thanks to TikTok, it recently blew up as one of the hottest slang terms of 2025, gaining media attention and spawning a whole genre of robophobic slurs to use against the AIs in your life.
With over 19% of the votes, Clanker took the crown with a commanding lead. Now, let's just hope there's no AI program paying attention to this poll, because it might not be too happy with the results.

Adrian Eeffoc Brainrot
Coming in second with 8.1% of the total votes is Adrian Eeffoc Brainrot, a very Gen Z meme trend that takes some of the most viral brainrot videos of the past few years and mashes them up to make the most absurd content possible. These memes have been going viral all over TikTok and Reels lately as a sort of tribute to brainrot, including hits like Adrian Explain Our Friend Group and Coffee Spelled Backwards.

Lizard, Lizard, Lizard
In a close third with 7.9% of votes is Lizard, Lizard, Lizard, a series of memes based on a post-credits scene from the film Elio. In the scene, an animated lizard keeps tapping on the "lizard" Emoji on a phone as a text-to-speech voice repeats "Lizard, lizard, lizard." This became a surprise hit meme format on sites like TikTok, where users began applying a green screen of the animation to situations in which you might have to spam-click (or spam-smack) something. It also inspired some reanimations and got people spam commenting "lizard lizard lizard" in comment sections everywhere.

SYBAU
Coming at you with 7.6% of the votes is SYBAU, a slang term that stands for "shut your b---h a-- up" that's garnered significant virality over the last month. Like many slang terms, SYBAU was popularized on TikTok and has been steadily growing since about February 2025. Lately, it inspired a series of memes known as the SYBAU guy, which has spread everywhere from X to Reddit and beyond as a Photoshop format. The term has now become a staple part of slang overload memes, where all the biggest new slang terms are combined to create a delicious pot of word soup.

Thinking Monkey
Finally, coming in fifth place with 7.6% of the total votes is the Thinking Monkey, a reaction image and image macro meme based on a picture of a monkey in deeper thought than many of us have probably ever experienced in our entire lives. This monkey first broke onto social media in 2011 and has been inspiring the occasional meme ever since, but recently took off as a reaction image on sites like X and an image comment on sites like TikTok.

Now for the memes that didn't quite crack the top five. In sixth place, we had the Clippy PFP Movement with 6.3% of the votes, followed closely by the interactive canvas Wplace with 5.6% of the votes and Mason 67 with 4.2% of the votes. Then, we had the so-bad-it's-good movie War of the Worlds and the Japanese Salarywoman, tying with 3.7% of the votes. Following these were I'm So Scared, the U.K. Online Safety Age Verification Law and a three-way tie between Jamie Lee Curtis' ad, the Niche Fruit and Performative Males, all with 2.2% of votes. In the bottom seven were Cracker Barrel's new logo, the 41 Song, Ibiza Final Boss, W Faps LosPollosTV edits, the Weapons Run, Sir Tapos Na Po and finally, the Buttaface Contest Girl.

Thank you for voting, and see you next month!
