About

Intensive Care Unit is a breakcore song by the furry musician Renard Queenston.[1] Since its release in May 2009, the song has become a popular source for YTPMVs, used for the first time as early as December of that year.

Origin

The song Intensive Care Unit first released on the album Intensive Care Unit EP, which first released to Bandcamp on May 21st, 2009.[2][3] The song was also reuploaded to YouTube (shown below) on May 24th, 2009, where it has received over 395,000 views in over thirteen years.



Spread

The first YTPMVs arrived months after the song's release. On December 21st, 2009, YouTube user McMaNGOS posted a YTPMV using the song along with scenes of Jan Rippe's character Kenneth Ålborg making and drinking mulled wine (Glögg). The YTPMV (shown below, left) received over 50,300 views in over thirteen years. On February 12th, 2010, YouTube user irover18 posted a YTPMV using the song along with the music video to the Cher song Believe. The YTPMV (shown below, right) received over 156,000 views in over thirteen years.



On June 26th, 2010, YouTube user EnigmaEvocative posted a YTPMV of the song along with Gaston from the 1991 Disney film Beauty and the Beast. The YTPMV (shown below, left) received over 2 million views in over twelve years. On August 7th, 2011, YouTube user jacknjellify posted a YTPMV of the song along with video from Battle For Dream Island. The YTPMV (shown below, right) received over 961,000 views in over eleven years.



On October 5th, 2013, YouTube user Sierraffinity posted a YTPMV using the song along with video from JonTron. The YTPMV (shown below, left) received over 350,000 views in over nine years. On September 8th, 2020, YouTube user PC_Alpha posted a YTPMV of the song along with system sounds and video from various versions of the Windows operating system. The YTPMV (shown below, right) received over 232,000 views in over two years.
