In May of 2010 a viral video was passed aroud of a few men developing a new extreme sport. This sport, where men ran on water, was called "liquid mountaineering." In this video these men explained in documentary fashion how they developed the abiltity to run up to 13 steps on water. Exta footage as well as a website were launched to extablish its legitamacy. It quickly spawned imitators in much the same way parkour became a viraly popular sport. Within two weeks there were claims of amateurs making it to 5 steps. However, just two weeks after the video's upload, its makers revealed it was all a hoax to advertise Hi-Tec's new water resistant shoes. But with amatuer videos all over youtube this may ironically become a real sport.
