Scene Wolf is an Advice Animal image macro series that typically parodies teenage girls who fit into a trendy subculture known as “scene”. The overlaid text often takes the form of an argument between a daughter and one of her parents about her lifestyle choices.
As indicated in an Urban Dictionary entry from September of 2005, the word “scene” can cover a fairly broad spectrum of subcultures:
The word “scene” coves a large spectrum throughout recent history, but its most modern definition is used to describe certian subcultures and movements. The most notoriously famous and targeted is the alternative music scene, or more specifically, branches of the alternative music scene such as hardcore, indie, fashoionxcore, etc.
The first UD definition for “scene girls” dates back to March 20th, 2006, and mostly describes the fashion trends associated with the subculture:
scene girls typically have black hair with their bangs cut a 45 degree angle. they wear big plastic jewerly and leggingly under their hollister mini skirts with their ballerinia flats. they wear clothes from urban outfitters thrift stores and their favorite band tee’s typically combined with a white studded belts. […] they typically wear pretty bows or little girl head bans in their hair (which is really cute regardless) fashion to them is a pair of joe’s jeans thier hot pink green day t-shirt and a studded belt.
Google searches for “scene wolf” spiked in January 2010, and after dipping down for most of 2011, they have recently seen a small increase in May.
