The original instance of “Shit Tyrone, Get It Together” image macro was reportedly posted on 4chan, according to various accounts on Tumblr. The image was reblogged by humor sites Monorail and Funny Junk on September 13th, 2009 and later picked up via Stumbleupon.
In the following months, the image gradually spread across other photo-sharing platforms like DeviantART, Flickr, and PhotoBucket. The image was particularly well received on Tumblr, where the phrase “Shit Tyrone, Get It Together” became closely associated with moments of FAIL or loss of composure. Several derivative images and animated GIFs have since surfaced under the tag “shit tyrone get it together,” some of them garnering hundreds of thousands of likes and reblogs.
