“Some men just want to watch the world burn” is a catchphrase that is often used as an ironic caption in image macros and inspired the snowclone template “some X just want to watch the world Y.”
Origin
The line was first heard in a scene from the July 2008 film The Dark Knight in which Alfred explains to Bruce Wayne that the joker is unlike any other criminal Batman has faced. The first known image macro featured ‘Tinky Winky’ from the BBC’s childrens programme Teletubbies.
Spread
It is also often used as a reply on many image-board/forums to posts that are angry or reporting an event such as a crime that a particular poster has a problem with. Image macros can often be found on Reddit[1] and Tumblr.[2]

One of my buddies today came into work upset. He wouldn’t answer me why. I asked the man who worked next to him. He said that one of his favorite Soap operas was cancelled. I asked him why that would make any man upset.
