They're Eating Her... OH MY GOD!

An awesomely bad clip from an awesomely bad movie…

On 8th September 2006, a Youtube user called Veovisjohn posted a video of an infamous scene from the 1990 ultra-low-budget horror movie Troll 2 in which a teenager and his girlfriend had eaten something given to them from an old lady which turned them into a mushy pulp. Suddenly, goblins appear and feast on the pulp of the girl. This is where the teen utters the line “They’re eating her, and then they’re going to eat me!” after a short pause he then screams “OH MY GOOOOOOOD!”

The appeal

“Troll 2” is notoriously known for its bad acting. The fact that he explains to the viewers what is going on in the scene unintentially breaks the 4th wall, and the delivery of his scream is so poor it makes one wonder if the kid accidentally stumbled onto the set while they were filming and got paid $10 to read off a cue card.

From obscure movie to web fad

In 2007, a Youtube user called AgentONeal posted a clip of the phrase and extended it to a minute long clip. This sparked a fad and now there exists a lot of remixes, parodies and general knowledge of it.

Although there have been a number of YTMNDs creating using this scene, they are difficult to search for due to the ubuiquitous nature of the phrase “oh my god.” There are also results for the phrase “they’re eating her” but only a handful.
