Sparta Remix is the name given to a mash-up based on a scene from the 2007 movie 300. The song inspired various remixes, normally accompanied with images that include Leonidas' face.

Origin

On February 19th, 2007, YTMND user Keaton Monger, also known as keatonkeaton999^[3], created a page titled "300TMND: THIS IS SPARTA (fun times mix)^[1]" which features a looping gif of the This Is Sparta! scene in the movie with a remix song titled "300 This is Sparta^[2]" playing. The page gathered more than 178.700 views with a 4.57 out of 5 star rating.

Spread

On May 8th, 2007, Youtuber Graphic Gaming uploaded a video titled "300 This is Sparta Remix!!!" which features several scenes from the movie with the remix song playing (shown below, left). On December 14th, 2007, Youtuber lele fonda uploaded a video titled "This is Sparta! Last techno remix" which features a compilation of YTMND pages regarding the remix (shown below, right). Both video gathered more than 9 million and 12 million views in 7 years respectively.

On July 5th, 2009, Urban Dictionary user lolnoob1120 submitted an entry regarding the remix^[4]. On August 22nd, 2009, The Sparta Remix Wiki was created which has 337 pages as of June, 2015^[5]. Several variations of the remix can be found in both Youtube^[6] and Soundcloud ^[7].
