The U.K. TikTok scene is getting clowned on at the moment, all because a bunch of British TikTokers began copying this one guy named Alz (@alzz4k) after he talked about, "That One Legendary GC That Fell Off" in a viral video.

A slew of people ripping and copying his video idea surfaced in the following weeks, initially leading to criticism of the U.K. TikTok scene.

However, the joke has evolved since then, as U.K. TikTokers are embracing the cringe by blatantly and hilariously ripping off Alz, sometimes playing his video, pausing it, and then repeating what he says while pretending that they're not.

So, where did the "We All Had That One Legendary GC That Fell Off" meme come from? Who is TikToker Alz, and why is he being singled out? Let's explain.

Where Did The 'We All Had That One Legendary GC That Fell Off' Meme Come From?

Back in April 2025, a TikToker named Alz (@alzz4k) posted a video on a topic that he hoped would resonate with viewers. He tried to tap into a shared experience of having a legendary group chat (GC) that, one day, just randomly "fell off."

He's seen in the video wearing a black Nike hoodie, hat and disposable facial mask. His British accent can be heard behind the veil, muffled by the polymers.

A few months later, a TikToker named @55dakid blatantly copied the idea and format of Alz's video. He used the exact same caption and intro'd with the same sentence and cadence — and his video performed better than Alz's view-wise.

Alz then responded to the copycat in his own video, condemning the content stealing.

However, the copycat was not alone. Other British dudes piled onto the video's concept in subsequent videos, leading to a hilarious echo chamber of doppelgängers, all saying the same thing.

Who Is British TikToker 'Alz,' Also Known As '@alzz4k?'

Alz, known by his TikTok handle @alzz4k, is a self-proclaimed "masked up" TikToker, who shares videos on a myriad of topics. However, although he talks about a lot of things, all of his videos seem to follow the same formula.

Since his first video in March 2025, he's centered his videos on so-called "nostalgia baiting." In his case, he starts each video saying, "Remember when…" or "We all had that…" He's always trying to tap into the average U.K. citizen's upbringing.

How Has The 'We All Had That One Legendary GC That Fell Off' Meme Evolved?

Copying Alz's videos started late last month in July 2025, but it's continued into August, all because of new, comedic innovations in the trend.

For one, the phrasal template "We all had that one legendary X" has been elevated to new, brainrotted heights, like talking about that "one legendary bread crumb in the air fryer," which would make zero sense to a Victorian child.

Others have taken copying Alz to the extreme by playing one of his videos and repeating it word for word in an ironic, satirical way. In one iteration from TikToker @jbee.0, he can be heard pausing an Alz video off-screen and repeating it back like a teleprompter.

The memes are ultimately playing on a bad stereotype that "U.K. TikTok" is trying to shake. When the app was almost banned in the U.S. back in January, Europeans and British people had a glimpse of the "For You" page without American posters. Some were appalled by the lack of good memes.

In one recent video from TikToker @uhvnoheart, he joked in a POV format about scrolling TikTok in an alternate universe where it really got banned in the U.S. In it, he imagines that every scroll is someone in a mask saying, "Remember when…" or "We all had that…"
