Necroposting, refers to the act of posting in a thread or replying to a topic, that has been inactive for a long period of time. The word "necroposting" is a portmanteau of the words Necro, a Latin word meaning deceased, and Posting. Necroposting is often discouraged on many sites.

Origin

While the origin of the phrase is unknown, the first reference to it is an Urban Dictionary article[1] for "necroposting" created on January 17th, 2004.
