In the united states, Republicans are known to be skeptical of man-made climate change, (and not uncommonly, to an extreme degree.) Like, I remember Fox went on this whole tirade over an e-mail used in a relevant study that talked about using a "trick" on the data, when it turned out it was the definition that meant a technique (like, completing the square is a trick used to solve quadratic equations) rather than trying to falsify the data.
Anyway, back on subject, climate change right now is resulting in shrinking ice caps, so some of the more extreme Republicans, when confronted with this information, might be expected to act somewhat like this.
