Origin

"Fight Against An Armed Boss" plays in 1996's Super Mario RPG: The Legend of the Seven Stars (Looping version shown below).

The song was first used in a meme on January 6th, 2011 on Niconico,^[1] when user The-U.JINE posted a mashup of the song and soundbites from Jojo's Bizarre Adventure.. The video gained over 1.5 million views on the site in thirteen years. On December 19th, 2012, YouTuber Lask^[2] posted a slight edit of the video to YouTube, gaining over 4 million views in eleven years. On March 12th, 2013, YouTuber imDraxx^[3] posted an edit of the original video that gained over 417,000 views in eleven years (shown below).

The song saw use in various meme styles throughout the 2010s. It was a popular source of edits for Soundclown SiIvaGunner. For example, they posted an edit on December 16th, 2019 that gained over 61,000 views in five years (shown below, left) and another on September 22nd, 2021 that gained over 131,000 views in two and a half years (shown below, right).

On June 17th, 2018, YouTuber Lil Boulder posted a mashup of the song with sounds from Sonic the Hedgehog,, gaining over 238,000 views in nearly six years (shown below, left). On March 23rd, 2023, YouTuber Pugberto Dancing Multiverse posted an edit featuring the Pug Vibing meme, gaining over 46,000 views in one year (shown below, right).
