SPECIALZ is the second opening song of the anime series Jujutsu Kaisen. The song, composed by King Gnu, grew popular in numerous bait-and-switch edits and is the inspiration of the You Are My Special Copypasta.

Origin

On August 31st, 2023, the official YouTube^[1] channel of King Gnu uploaded the full version of the Jujutsu Kaisen season two opening song, "SPECIALZ." The video received more than 33 million views in nine months (shown below).

Spread

The song grew popular with edits of opening parody crossovers and edits of scenes from other series that added the song. For example, on September 6th, 2023, YouTube^[2] user red penguin uploaded a "SPECIALZ" Spider-Man: Into the Spider-verse opening parody that received more than 1.1 million views in seven months (shown below, left). On September 17th, 2023, YouTube^[3] user genshashin uploaded a Genshin Impact parody that received more than 1.5 million views in seven months (shown below, right).

On January 29th, 2024, Reddit^[4] user onichan-daisuki uploaded a Re:Zero scene with the song to it to the /r/goodanimemes subreddit. The post received more than 2,400 upvotes in three months (shown below).

You Are My Special Copypasta refers to a spam comment and copypasta revolving around the Jujutsu Kaisen second season anime opening music “SPECIALZ” by King Gnu. NASA shared a picture of Tokyo from space in early January 2024, which is a similar image used on the anime’s opening credits, inspiring fans of the show to flood the comment section with the catchphrase said at the start of the song, “You are my special” (example shown below).
