Twilight being recognized for her accomplishments and talents isn't surprising in itself. If they want to redefine the historically cliché title of "princess" and portray her instead as a paragon of virtue, that's perfectly fine.

However, what most of us didn't expect(or want, at all, for that matter) was for Twilight to be… altered the way she was in the process, nor for her to be put on the same pedestal as the Royal Sisters. Those two things are what raise a few red flags.
