I actually disagree with Alex for once. We complain about things that aren't good enough, or don't meet standards, so we can identify and learn why we don't like them, so when we produce media, we know what not to do.
And by voicing the things that bother us, the things that ruin a piece of entertainment, we can potentially allow others to learn and see. I have learned so much from other peoples reviews and critiques, where I knew I disliked something, but never knew why. Like the Plinkett Star Wars reviews. I knew there were things I hated but I never realized how bad the direction and blocking was, how many times a character's actions defied their own personality. Or how their personalities were only defined by things characters said, and not the actions of the characters themselves.
