Besides the fact that the animation is much better, notice how the image of Peridot in the final animation is practically identical to the original drawing.
The PPG storyboards here don’t look great, but there is a definite soul and style to them. But then you look at the final product, and not only is there no distinct soul or style, but it's clearly different. Character designs, poses, and even little bits of animation have been ironed into line – it feels less like the storyboards were handed to the animators, and more like they were described to them. That they’ve been so radically altered between the storyboard and the final product suggests that there’s something really weird going on in development.
