The 2024 United States Presidential Election refers to the 60th quadrennial presidential election in the United States, taking place on November 5th, 2024. The election is expected to take place between the incumbent Joseph Biden and former president Donald Trump in a rematch of the 2020 United States Presidential Election.

On January 15th, 2024, the primary caucus for the Republican party began and concluded, with Donald Trump being named the winner and awarding him the majority of the delegates, of which 1,215 are needed to win the nomination[1]. For the Democrats, Joe Biden is running again as the incumbent, leading to the two facing off in debates as it gets closer to election day.

On January 15th, 2024, after placing 4th and gaining only 3 delegates, Republican candidate "Vivek Ramaswamy": https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/people/vivek-ramaswamy dropped out of the race. His announcement was broadcast live and re-uploaded to YouTube on the official C-SPAN[2] channel, where it earned over 33,000 views in six days (shown below).
Ron DeSantis Ends Campaign
On January 21st, 2024, the Republican candidate Ron DeSantis suspended his campaign after a second place finish in Iowa, formally withdrawing his name from future primary voting and leading to the rest of the primaries to be Donald Trump vs. Nikki Haley. Ron's announcement was uploaded to YouTube by the official Washington Post[3] YouTube channel, where it gained over 21,000 views in one day (shown below).

With the news that Ron DeSantis dropped out of the primary, social media users became convinced that the end result of the primaries would be Donald Trump versus Joe Biden. Online, the sentiment that the 2024 election would be a rematch of the 2020 one did not sit well with many social media users.
