- Mahou Shoujo anime pioneered the concept of lesbians not just in anime, but in media in general, and still does to date. Western cartoons actually pale in comparison. Other genres also dabble in gay males much more than Western cartoons ever have.
- You do see more racial variety in Western cartoons than in anime, but it makes sense for cartoons since the setting is often USA, where you do find many races, whereas Japan has no excuse, yet you still see dark-skinned or even White girls in much bigger proportion than Japan itself.
- Anything related to sexualization is a moot point: these are primarily aimed at young kids, mostly young girls. That is not a bad reason: even Smash Bros. does the same for that exact reason (a Japanese product, mind you).
- Anime has a much more extensive history of bad animation quality, and still does to date. Just because people talk about Jojo-quality animation more often, it does not make it the industry standard. Samples are abundant and easy to find.
- And please, a lot of these anime are as generic as they get both writing and style-wise, man. Anyone can much more easily parody "anime in a nutshell" as a whole than "cartoons in a nutshell" as a whole.
