I took Orwell's 1984 to heart when I first read it in High School, so all of this is seriously ramping up my paranoia factor.
Even if I were to buy an Xbone (which I won't) the first thing I'd do is tape a piece of paper over the sensor, perhaps even putting some foam over the mic, and simply always use the controller like a normal human being.
Unless the Xbone actually requires you to show your face to the Kinect, that should work well enough to let me at least feel some privacy.
