Calling 9/11 'a completely unprovoked attack' is a drastic oversimplification, as is saying Japan attacked Pearl Harbor with no provocation. Politics is never, ever that simple.

There's a difference between wartime actions and a completely unprovoked attack…ironically enough for this example, the nukes were only ever dropped because Japan attacked Pearl Harbor with no provocation.
