I think you have a point, but it's ultimately impossible to properly analyze the overall behavior of the users of a Twitter hashtag, regardless of weather the hashtag was used on specific tweets.

But the trend is that people usually use the hashtag-- sure, not necessary even 90% accurate, but it still drives the point that the number of negative comments involving Gamergate that are anti-women are in a almost non-extant minority.
