Damn Nature, You Scary! - Boiling water & water gun in extreme cold (Northern Ontario)

What you're seeing is actually water vapor. The boiling water/steam is being shot out of the water gun, but because the air is so frigid, it's almost instantly cooled back into vapor (which is effectively its liquid form). Ordinarily, water vapor shot out of a water gun sinks in the air, but again due to the huge temperature disparity between vapor and air, the hotter vapor rises in the colder air.
