Honey, Rick Moranis Just Blew Up Twitter's Heart

Finally, some good news! Today in a tweet heard around the world, The Hollywood Reporter announced that Rick Moranis would be returning to the screen after 23 years to star in another sequel to Honey, I Shrunk the Kids. Moranis had left the acting world in 1997 after his wife Ann Belsky sadly passed away from cancer so that he could become a full-time single father to his two children.

While various reboots have been made of his other films such as Ghostbusters, and his name is often mentioned from those fond of 90's nostalgia, Moranis had never agreed to sign onto another project except for a few voice-over gigs. Shrunk will be the fourth sequel to the series and will have Moranis reprising his role as Wayne Szalinski. In addition, it will also star Josh Gad who also announced his role in the film and shared his excitement all over his social media accounts. This news today brought a lot of positivity to Twitter which quite frankly could use it more than ever. Below are some of the best reactions to Disney's upcoming film.

In addition to the announcement, we now have a term for this joyful period in time.

The love expressed for Moranis today was incredibly strong.

Many couldn't help but admire him for his decision to step away in the first place.

Clips of him from former shows and movies were shared on Twitter.

The news was a surprise for sure.

Some users even joked about how long they've been fans of the actor.

One thing is for sure, Moranis=hero.

And while reboots are often scoffed at, this one might be the only one many are excited for.

A Moranis rule to remakes and sequels might actually be applied moving forward.

Some admired him for his decision to only return to this role when he had so many other offers.

In fact, today was a big day for all three of these guys.

The only complaint came from those eagerly seeking a sequel to Spaceballs_.

But perhaps that is up to Mel Brooks?

And maybe Moranis just liked this role more than the others?

Some joked that the actor had only decided to return for money, which they assumed Disney must have offered him.

Welcome back, Rick Moranis! It's time to take back your Canadian throne from Justin Bieber since people still have crushes on you.
