London designer's "inflatable" latex pants has internet cracking jokes.

Patrick Star's Dream Has Come True: They Made Inflatable Pants

In 2001, Patrick Star had a dream, a good idea that nobody else believed in: inflatable pants.

Nineteen years later, Patrick's dream became a reality. Yesterday, London College of Fashion designer Harikrishnan debuted a (hopefully not literally) popping new look on the runway when he debuted a series of "anatomically impossible" latex pants that are quite literally inflatable: a valve at the bottom of the pants pumps them full of air.

"I got the idea when I was playing with my dog and I started thinking about how exaggerated objects must look from such a low angle," explained Harikrishnan.

"The thought of him seeing me as a giant figure or not seeing my head at all was intriguing, so I decided to reimagine the people around me through the game of distortion – detached from the stereotypical, pre-determined notions of the human perspective."

You can't make inflatable pants in the year of our lord 2020 and not expect the internet to react. Once the pants floated onto the web, Twitter users had jokes.

Somewhat disappointingly, Harikrishnan has no plans of selling his designs. He told Vogue that he merely wanted to create an unfamiliar visual and the craft element of the collection. There are plans, however, for the pants to be used in future music videos.
