Rapper Tyler, The Creator is topping the charts after the release of his 2024 album Chromakopia, but fans on the /r/TylerTheCreator subreddit are obsessing over another album altogether.

The album, titled Outcast, purportedly comes from the Goblin era and is being touted by many of the board's members as an underrated classic. But a lot of Redditors can't even seem to find out how to listen to it.

So what is Outcast? Here's what you need to know.

What Is 'Outcast' By Tyler, The Creator?

In mid-November 2024, Redditor u/Numerous_Quail_5718 posted a meme to /r/TylerTheCreator assigning the rapper's various albums to several categories. One of these categories is "Overlooked masterpiece." In the slot is an album with a purple cover and the text "Outcast" over the front.

The post garnered over 2,500 upvotes in a day, but members of the subreddit were quick to point out that they'd never heard of Outcast before. This is because Outcast doesn't actually exist. There is no known Tyler album called Outcast, meaning the post is simply an elaborate hoax meant to troll and gaslight Tyler, The Creator fans.

How Is 'Outcast' Used In Memes?

Ever since the first post about Outcast was made, the /r/TylerTheCreator subreddit has been flooded with further memes about the non-existent album. The memes tend to treat the album as if it's real, further gaslighting users into believing the hoax. Some memes even expand upon the album's lore, such as one that suggests Tyler performed songs from it on The Tonight Show in 2010.

Many of the subreddit members are now in on the joke and are playing into it by imagining tracks that were on the album. These include songs like "Mr. Jackson" and "Old / Dusty." One meme even features a fake screenshot of an Anthony Fantano review of the album, in which he awarded it a "strong six" out of 10.
