Soon after, usage of the term spread to X, with the first recorded use of the term surfacing in November 2021.

Many people used the term to identify when one person was over-hyping another person, seemingly in the pursuit of winning their affection. Many people paired the term with videos of donuts being glazed, turning into the main, visual symbol of the trend.
