Streamer IShowSpeed often says, "Green apples," when he's livestreaming. Then, the video ends abruptly. It's confused many of his fans over the years.

The phenomenon has happened multiple times throughout his YouTube career, but what does "green apples" mean for Speed? Why did he start saying it and what does it mean when he says it? Let's explain.

What Does 'Green Apples' Mean When IShowSpeed Says It?

IShowSpeed has almost fully transitioned into "IRL streaming," meaning that he's out in the world, walking around and livestreaming instead of sitting at his computer playing video games or just chatting.

Speed's IRL streams are usually hours long and, at the end of them, he sometimes looks into the camera and says, "Green apples," before the screen goes black and cuts out.

"Green apples" is a codeword for Speed. It's a covert way for Speed to tell his cameraperson to end the stream.

When Did IShowSpeed Start Saying 'Green Apples?'

A few months ago, Speed started using code words to end his IRL streams, including others like "dark milk" and "Planet of the Apes." They were seemingly decided on at random before the stream began.

On May 14th, Speed was streaming in South Korea. To end the stream, he used "green apples" for the first time.
