On May 3rd, 2021, CBR^[2] wrote an article commenting on the fan theories about the release of Battlefront 3, claiming that two false leaks about the game suggested "a hypothetical late 2023 release date for the game, alongside an official announcement on April 20."

On May 18th, 2025, the X^[3] page @StayBombastic shared a Star Wars: Battlefront 2 Steam player chart, showing an increase of players in the last month (April-May 2025). The tweet (seen below) received more than 72,000 views and 3,700 likes in two days, while also spawning a new rumor that Star Wars: Battlefront 3 could be announced in the near future.

According to Daily Mail Gaming,^[4] the increase of Star Wars: Battlefront 2 players is due to the release of the second season of the Andor TV Show, a spin-off series following thief-turned-rebel spy Cassian Andor during the five years that lead to the events of the two first Star Wars films.

The video explaining the rise in players was posted on TikTok on May 20th, 2025, amassing over 132,000 plays and 15,000 likes in a few hours.

Online Presence

Fans started to post memes and several other forms of content related to a potential upcoming Battlefront 3 release in late May 2025, partly to joke about the unfounded rumors and to also spread awareness about their expectations about wanting a new game from the series.
