What Is 'Blowfly Girl,' The Infamous Story That Has Haunted Internet Readers For Years?
On the internet, there are many stories that grow infamous because of their shock value. The "Jolly Rancher Story" and "Reddit's Broken Arms Story" come to mind, but perhaps the grimiest of them all is Blowfly Girl. If things like the "Jolly Rancher Story" are the shock-read equivalent of "2 Girls 1 Cup," "Blowfly Girl" is like that video someone shows you as they say, "You think '2 Girls 1 Cup' is bad? Try this."
Here, we'll break it down in as digestible a manner as possible.
What Is Blowfly Girl?
"Blowfly Girl" isn't actually the name of the infamous story, but the name of the Geo_cities page where it was first posted, and "Blowfly Girl" appears to be the handle of the writer. The title is actually "Maggot Story," and if that's enough information for you to tap out from reading on, we'd understand.
This Is What 'Blowfly Girl' Is About. Seriously, This Is The Final Warning If You Don't Want To Know
First posted in 2005, "Maggot Story" tells the tale of the author's sexual experience with maggots. She gets naked, goes into a dumpster, finds some rotting meat with maggots writhing around on it, and gets 'em all up in there, so to speak.
She then walks home with them still in there and apparently has a stellar time with maggots inside her, orgasming multiple times before the negative side effects set in. Eventually, the clear medical issues one can imagine come with voluntarily putting bugs in oneself take their toll on the author, and she passes out in bed after defecating herself and goes to the hospital.
This is an extremely condensed version of the tale. Blowfly Girl's "Maggot Story" is very long considering the events of its plot, and very descriptive. Unlike other infamous online stories that generally can take up the space of a slightly long Reddit comment, "Maggot Story" is the size of a novel chapter. It's probably the closest online-based piece to Chuck Palahniuk's infamous short story "Guts," which allegedly made people faint at public readings.
And it's still online. If your curiosity isn't yet satisfied, you can read it here.
What Is The Legacy Of Blowfly Girl?
"Blowfly Girl" remains one of the internet's most infamous pieces of writing, now nearly 20 years since it was first published. It has been passed around dark subreddits and other places known for hosting internet "sickos." In 2019, the tale of Blowfly Girl was covered by Whang!, who did some further investigation into Blowfly Girl.
The other posts on Blowfly Girl's blog indicate that "Maggot Story" is a true story. At least, that's what the author insisted on up to 2017 when she stopped posting and the trail went cold.
