*That one guy's for you page or Sean's FYP is a viral video posted by TikToker @rileyy.lauren where she shows off her boyfriend's weird and absurdist TikTok For You page, which consisted of a string of strange and absurdist brainrot memes and videos, such as a video of a wizard with the caption "I cast mulch", and other breakcorehyperpop memes.

The video, posted mid-April, inspired other people to start claiming that their For You page started changing after watching this video, mirroring Sean's FYP. But what is this video all about, and how is it possible that one video had such a massive influence on so many other people? Here's everything you need to know.

What Is That One Guy's For You Page?

Uploaded on April 14, 2024, TikToker @rileyy.lauren posted a video in which she scrolls through her boyfriend Sean's For You page, laughing at the results. They included a variety of strange videos including a video of running toothpaste by @joestarbrando69, a clip of @wizzie_spudspice, an animation of a fish riding a bicycle by @peterserraarens and a video of a wizard "casting mulch" by @dream_of_stardust. The video gained over 12 million views in two days (shown below).

How Did It Spread?

After the initial video was uploaded, there was a sudden surge in users claiming that their FYP was "cursed" by Sean, posting various videos showing how they started getting the same videos on their pages.

On April 15th, 2024, TikToker @rtb4.0 posted a video scrolling through their FYP, showing the same videos as on Sean's, garnering over 100,000 views in a day (shown below, left). Another TikToker, @aubscatsanctuary posted a similar video, writing, "Is anyone else suddenly suffering the curse after seeing the weird bf's FYP video?" garnering over 525,000 views in a day (shown below, right).

How Did His For You Page Affect Other People?

While you can shrug off the sudden uptick in weird absurdist videos on everyone's FYP as a mere coincidence, many people online found it rather odd how they immediately started noticing a change right after they watched a video of someone else's FYP. It just goes to show the power of the internet, and how we have very little control over how much information these apps gather about us.

This could be part of the reason why the US is trying to ban TikTok again, despite many users heavily against the idea. It is also a great illustration of the Baader-Meinhof phenomenon, where something you learned or were exposed to recently seems to appear everywhere you look.
