Where Does TikTok's 'Shadow Wizard Money Gang, We Love Casting Spells' Audio Come From?
There are no limits to what can become a viral TikTok audio and occasionally, producer tags become some of the biggest audios on the platform. Following the success of DJ Smokey and Joeyy's Legalize Nuclear Bombs tag, another tag from the underground artists called Shadow Wizard Money Gang has taken off on the platform. What Is The 'Shadow Wizard Money Gang' Meme?
At the end of 2022, underground artist Joeyy released his new song "Gout," which starts off with the elaborate, booming producer tag, "Shadow wizard money gang, we love casting spells." Joeyy's songs often features producer tags like this. In fact, earlier in 2022 when Joeyy released the song "ᘜ𝒶ɹв︎𐌀ℵz𐌏," the tags "legalize nuclear bombs" and "call the fire department we just nuked the building," spoken in a similarly deep voice, went viral on TikTok as a source for lip dub videos.
Like "legalize nuclear bombs," "shadow wizard money gang" cast a spell on TikTokers and took off with force. People started lip-dubbing to it the month it was released, then started using it even more in January, inspiring over 3,000 videos under the original sound for "Gout" by mid-January 2023.
How Is 'Shadow Wizard Money Gang' Used On TikTok?
The majority of TikTokers are using "Gout," more specifically the song's producer tag, in simple lip dub videos just because it sounds funny and absurd. Most of the videos feature joke captions where the user compares something to wizardry or magic. One of the most viral examples by @just.josh. documents a trip with his girlfriend to Utah to see some "funny looking bottles," using the sound to compare the bottles to potions.
Another very popular trend sees users edit a barrage of cool wizard images over the sound, which plays after a now-deleted video by Christian TikToker @thatjesusgeneration where she claims that masturbation is a form of witchcraft. In this case, the sound is being used to suggest that the user does not care if masturbation is a form of witchcraft, because they love "casting spells" and will not be stopped.
