"Ryan Gosling Won't Eat His Cereal" is the name of a series of Vine videos posted by a Viner named Ryan McHenry in April 2013. McHenry would put up Ryan Gosling movies on his projector and hold up a spoonful of cereal, only to have Gosling's characters make a movement that appeared as though they were refusing to eat.
What Happened To Ryan McHenry?
Soon after the Ryan Gosling Cereal videos went viral, the creator of the videos, Ryan McHenry, was diagnosed with bone cancer. Henry postponed his film project to begin a grueling recovery process, which involved chemotherapy and surgery for the removal of his tumor. His friends pitched in to make a crowdfunding campaign called "Ryan McHenry Won't Eat His Cancer" to cover his costs, and his army of internet fans surpassed the fund's goals in a matter of days.
On May 2015, despite undergoing nearly 20 months of chemotherapy and a series of operations, Ryan McHenry passed away. The death of the meme-maker was quickly met by tributes and messages of condolences from his supporters and friends on Vine and Twitter.
