The Boys has delighted and disturbed audiences for the past few years. Now, it’s back again with a third season that just wrapped up last week. And this season was…a lot, to say the least. From Billy Butcher trying to become a temporary superhero to Kimiko’s musical numbers to Black Noir’s imaginary animal friends, things were weird and occasionally controversial. And, predictably, these wild moments became popular memes. Here are some of the most memorable points of season three of The Boys that fans have been talking about (and making some pretty bizarre memes about).

Timothy

Timothy was the name of the octopus Chace Crawford’s The Deep was apparently friends with before Homelander forced him to eat him (alive) in front of his wife and coworkers in order to regain his place in The Seven. The scene is long and disturbing, and honestly it’s pretty devastating because it really makes everyone feel bad for Timothy as The Deep sobs his way through eating him. According to The Deep, he was begging for his life and praying the whole way down. PETA even gave The Boys an award for this scene for building such sympathy for Timothy and portraying him as a living creature with feelings, not food. I wonder how PETA felt when The Deep had sex with an octopus a few episodes later.

Herogasm

Herogasm was a very hyped-up episode of The Boys because of everything that happened in the comics. People who were familiar with that part of the comics were both terrified and excited to see how it would play out onscreen. So when the real episode came up, some of the readers of the comics were underwhelmed, while everyone else seemed to love it. The reappearance of Love Sausage was a nice touch, and so was what he did to poor M.M., one of the few characters we were still rooting for this season. The episode itself is the most x-rated one from the series, and it’s also pretty funny. Herogasm was bound to be made into a ton of memes, many of which I can’t mention on this website without being brutally demonetized forever, and it went viral as soon as it was released.

The Deep and the Octopus

We all knew it was bound to happen at some point. But we didn’t know The Deep was going to try to deal with the situation by asking his wife to have a threesome with him and the octopus. This eventually results in his wife leaving him, but this somehow takes a lot longer than it should have to scare her off. There are a lot of memes about this too, and you can probably guess by now that yes, I can’t describe them to you in detail. That’s what incognito mode is for. But it’s also worth noting that some of this octopus content appeared in the trailer for season three, which resulted in the trailer being flagged over twenty million times.

Ant-Man vs Thanos Moment

The Boys is known for having some superhero knock-offs (intentionally, of course). One of these is Termite, who has the ability to shrink. In one scene, Termite shrinks and crawls inside another man as some sort of bizarre sex act, but then he sneezes, causing himself to return to normal size. This makes the other man explode. He then tries to crawl inside of Frenchie and do the same thing to him because he was a witness of the crime. It was a clear parallel to the Ant-Man vs Thanos debate, and it was probably the most memorable way they could have started the first episode of the season (it was just a few minutes into the episode, after all), and the photos of Termite inside another guy became a big meme, as did the general concept of the following fight scene.

That Ending

The ending of this season was controversial, mainly because it felt a bit underwhelming. It also was bashed online because it randomly made Ryan into the villain when we were all expecting him to turn out as one of the good guys, despite no real lead-up to his change of character. He’s not Anakin Skywalker, after all, he’s a little kid. And then there’s the news of what happened to Butcher (hopefully, he has a slow and painful battle with brain deterioration before he dies) even though we really have no idea how he’s alive in the first place. The last episode was mocked on Twitter as a sign that the show is going downhill. Hopefully, this isn’t the case, and we’ll have plenty of fun and messed-up moments to joke about for the rest of the show’s lifespan.
