There are few things in this world that can be accurately predicted. The sun will rise, that's one, as is that summer will be hot and rushed games will be buggy. One thing that is expected though, is that media with years of hype before release are guaranteed to have at least one meme made from them, as is recently the case with Zack Snyder's Justice League. One thing that was not expected, however, was that the Suez Canal would receive its first shutdown ever as a boat managed to run itself aground, creating a lot of Suez Canal jam memes. Further unexpected and completely out of left field is a rapper going on social media to sell satanic shoes, complete with blood in the soles. That's just another day in the life of this constantly unexpected life of internet memes.

Suez Canal Jam

For those who aren't aware of what the Suez Canal is or why it's important: why start caring now? It's like a bridge for boats to go from India to Europe really fast, and when it got blocked by the Ever Given ship running aground, roughly 12 percent of the world's total trade was immediately halted. Now, while the global socioeconomic and trade impacts were trying to be calculated and efforts barely made to fix this issue, people online just decided to make a bunch of memes about it. These memes came in many different formats, from video memes of the ship's travel log having music or other voiceovers added to it, to object-labeling memes, to the expansive use of Photoshop. Whenever this event is finally put behind us, it'll still be nice to look back and see the vast amount of memes that were created from this one event.

Superman Not Impressed

Superman Not Impressed is a meme that comes from the newly released Snyder cut of Justice League. This is a meme that was expected to happen, as the Snyder Cut has been hyped for over four years. Whenever something gets that much sustained hype and it actually releases, memes will naturally come. This image has seen the bulk of its use in the form of object-labeling memes, with different text either being superimposed on Superman himself or a scenario being made in the top text. While the movie is still continuing to make its rounds in the online meme space, there's still plenty of time for other memes to be created from this four-hour movie.

Satanic Shoes

Satanic Shoes is about the marketing stunt by Lil Nas X to sell shoes that are branded with satanic iconography and essence, complete with a drop of human blood in a container in the sole. Shortly after making a new music video, it was reported that Lil Nas X was working with a sneaker company to modify existing Nike Air Max 97s into this limited-run shoe, inspired by Satanic imagery and branding. As expected, there was a very polarizing response online, with much drama, retweets and videos to follow. Both memes about Lil Nas X himself, using tweets of his in the past, and memes about the overly edgy nature of the shoe drop have been proliferating online.
