The video went viral with over 2.1 million views in under a week. Soon enough, it inspired other TikTokers to start calling out their exes using the same audio.
The audio in question is Lorde's song "Man of the Year," a single off her upcoming album Virgin, set to release in late June 2025.
In the context of the trend, the lyrics "Let's hear it for the man of the year" are being used ironically to suggest that these toxic ex-boyfriends are the man of the year when they're actually the opposite.
