A scene from the Tubi Original movie Sidelined: The QB and Me is going viral on TikTok and Instagram, right now, known for its lines, "Nice catch, Cheer," and the sassy rebuttal, "Not my name, Quarterback."

The scene stars actor Noah Beck (known for his TikTok presence) and actress Siena Agudong. They're tasked with delivering an awe-inspiring performance, encapsulating the emotions and romance of two high school sweethearts. However, this scene is indicative of much of the film. People are joking about the stale dialogue while still maintaining their love for the actors and original novel.

However, where did this meme start? Why is it trending and how are people using it? Let's explain.

What's The Original 'Not My Name, Quarterback' Scene?

The film is called Sidelined: The QB and Me. It was produced and released by Tubi in November of last year. The movie is about a cheerleader and a quarterback falling in love and the many obstacles trying to keep them apart.

It stars actor Noah Beck as Drayton Lahey and Siena Agudong as Dallas Bryan. It's based on the romance novel of the same name written by Tay Marley.

In the scene in question, Drayton throws a pass meant for his friend Chase. Dallas catches it though, and Drayton shouts, not knowing her name, "Nice catch, Cheer!"

She responds with a flirtatious snap in her voice, "Not my name, Quarterback."

Where Does The 'Not My Name, Quarterback' Meme Come From?

The official TikTok account of Tubi uploaded the clip last November, shortly after the film's release. The company was probably trying to cater to actor Noah Beck's large following on the app.

The commenters gave mixed reviews. One wrote, "Bella and the Bulldogs ahh scene," referencing the scrapped Nickelodeon show that lasted one season back in 2015.

In the following days, influencers began recreating the scene, similar to the "99% Accuracy" trend of meme reenactments.

One of the first to share a video was influencer Tabitha Swatosh who recreated the Sidelined scene on the NFL field of the Kansas City Chiefs. That was back in early December.

How Is 'Not My Name, Quarterback' Being Used In Memes?

Many of the memes referencing the "Not my name, Quarterback" scene have been following the same format as Tabitha Swatosh's video. Creators are showing themselves reenacting it, trying to get down the exact script and mannerisms.

The iterations have evolved into strange hallucinations compared to the original. Some are throwing giant, inflatable objects. Others are throwing the ball back as hard as they can, trying to injure their friend playing the Quarterback role.
