And I'll try to put a WH40k story together.
First, roll a 1d10, 1d100 and another 1d10.
1, 21, 10
1d10=1 "The Brotherhood was created after the 9th Astartes (Knight-Errant) picked by Malcador the Sigillite at the time of the Grey Knight's inception."
Many years ago before Abbadon's 13th crusade, there were many space marines loyal to the emperor more than their own legion, when the Horus Heresy began, Malcador the Sigillite picked these space marines known as the Knights errant, some of which whose legion turned to the dark powers (such as Nathaniel Garro, whose legion turned into zombies), to specially deal with the forces of Horus.
Soon later, the sigillite to form a special organisation of both space marines, sisters and regular people designed to fight the dreadful daemons of the warp and other heresies. Within the group, these warriors of mankind were split into multiple "brotherhoods", each governed by a grand master who answers to the SUPREME GRAND MASTER (don't forget the supreme part). Such was the beginning of the grey knights.
Each brotherhood acts similar to a codex-compliant space marine chapter, with each grand master in charge of special duty such as ship master et cetera. But for this thread, we shall talk about the 9th brotherhood…
Now, you may be asking "Wait a second, there's only 8 hoods in the chapter." Well you are absolutely right! But for story purposes and that A-train above rolled a one, we have an extra brotherhood outta nowhere. All will be explained in the further posts.
1d100=21 "Knight-Errant's Original Chapter was the space wolves"
If you read the recent lore, you might notice that the inquistion and the grey knights are at great odds with each the Space Wolves ever since the first war for Armageddon, not the 9th brotherhood though. For their first Grand Master was a sky warrior of Fenris, chosen by Leman Russ himself when the Emperor grant the primarch his very own legion to take back what was once lost by humanity. When the arch-traitor Horus turned his back to the imperium, this particular space wolf was taken to titan to hone his skills in execution of heretics. After Malcador returned to Terra to deal with Horus, this knight-errant was give the title of GRAND MASTER of the 9th brotherhood and its ownership. As time passed on and the title was passed on from one grey knight to another, his deeds becomes legends and myths as records of him slowly erodes away. To this day some of the grey knights of the 9th brotherhood still carry penchants that helps them focus in the field of battle.
1d10="They've been cut off from the Chapter, having been lost in the warp, or maybe simply become stranded somehow with no way to return. No dealings with the Inquisition."
Like the 13th Space Wolves company, this particular brotherhood lost contact approximately M35 when their fleet chased down a chaos warband in a warpstorm, only to return at M41.998. Due to the long difference between time, the brotherhood was forgotten and all the brothers have to submit themselves for inspection to see if they were the real deal (which they were). For the meantime they are stationed around Terra for repairs and recruitment. Unfortunately for them it seems like an evil from an alternate universe have revealed itself on the holy planet (see my roleplay posts).

you've already rolled, let someone else do it.
Alright, armedwithhate rolled an 8 for me, I'll edit this post later.
1d12="Experienced members mainly. Veterans and older warriors make up a good bulk of the Brotherhood."
Being isolated from the imperium and focused on fighting enemies in the warp, this brotherhood did not receive any new recruits from the chapter during their leave. So most of the space marines in this chapter are more well versed in the fighting of chaos and are experienced in fighting the many other enemies of mankind in average compared to other brotherhood (except for the 1st brotherhood). Fortunately this brotherhood is picking up a few initiates fresh from induction.
Now roll a 1d4
Three.
1d4=3 "Extroverted. A wizened warrior and natural leader past his glory days. Lead's by great words, speeches, and prior deeds."
The grand master of the 9th brotherhood, rose to masterhood 350 years before the ill-fated travel into the warp remained the head of the company throughout the years, making him one of the oldest commanders in the 41st millennium. During his time he memorized every single scriptures stored in the cruiser, giving him plenty of quotes to rally his brothers and enough sentences to rebute everything his enemy say to him. This grand master gained his position after the past master was killed by a daemon prince of Tzeentch in single combat (I know right?). Said daemon was immediately decapitated by the then brother-captain and got his promotion.
now Roll me a 1d6
Charasriel rolled a 1 for me.
1d6=1 "Justice above all – This is the judgement of the righteous, scum!"
In the such a grim dark galaxy where countless evils run amok, the 9th brotherhood will scour the stars to defeat the most dreaded, the most vile enemies of the imperium so that no harm shall fall upon humanity. Being in the grey knight means you are always fighting the worst of the worst, not some lankey orks, not some easily-avoidable eldar, not the weak Tau, but daemons, C'Tans, and many more dreadful entities that stalks the dark fringes of imperial-controlled territory.
Where injustice is found, the 9th brotherhood shall find them and exterminate them without prejudice.
now a d10 please.
Proceeds to roll a 10

"The amount of heroes of the imperium number the stars, for the 9th brotherhood, the most legendary figure was not some high and mighty grand master or champion, but rather a simple battle-brother."
Please roll an additional d4
