Overview

Queen Elizabeth II's Death refers to the passing of Queen Elizabeth II at 96 years old. On the morning of September 8th, 2022, it was announced that she was under medical supervision at Balmoral Castle in Aberdeen, Scotland after her doctors became concerned for her health. It was further reported that her children canceled scheduled events to rush to her side, suggesting she may be close to death. Later that day, her death was confirmed by the Royal Family. Online, the news was treated both with grave seriousness and jokes from commenters, with many related memes (such as Queen Elizabeth Is Immortal and There Is No Queen of England) also trending amid the Queen of England's death.

Background

On September 8th, 2022, Buckingham Palace[2] released a statement announcing the Queen was under medical supervision at Balmoral Castle in Aberdeen, Scotland. The BBC[1] noted that it was highly unusual for Buckingham Palace to "provide commentary on the 96-year-old monarch's medical matters, which are seen as private." Furthermore, her children of royal family members were reported to have rushed to her side from around the U.K. Daily Mail's Royal editor, Rebecca English,[3] remarked that the situation was "as grave as it gets" (shown below).

Rebecca English @RE_DailyMail ... To summarise, all of the Queen's children - Charles, Anne, Edward, Andrew - are either at the Queen's bedside or travelling to be with her. Her grandson, Prince William, is also in Scotland. This is as grave as it gets, I am so sorry to say. 8:55 AM Sep 8, 2022 Twitter Web App

Guess Betty White's life force was only enough to keep her alive for a few more months.

But in all due seriousness, every other time the Queen has been ill they never had the BBC anchors get their black suits out (for those who don't know, all BBC anchors have black suits that are kept at the station so if they were to ever get news about the Queen's death they'd quickly change into those suits before they deliver the news.) I know the hip thing today is to not feel any sympathy for anyone who has more money than you, but it'll be sad to see the Queen go since, I mean she's just always been there and it'll be weird to see a world where the Brits will say "God save the king" or some other shit.

-Entire Royal Family has been summoned
-She visited her Scottish residence out of season
-BBC Newscast room has the anchors dressed in all black
-Docs say she is "comfortable"… not "well", merely "comfortable". Meaning she is likely just hooked up to an IV drip full of morphium.

They will probably try their best to keep her alive for long enough for the family to say their goodbyes, but she is essentially already dead.
