Sixth, Thanksgiving is tomorrow, and since this is Hawai'i, there won't be just turkey but pigs and chicken too. I don't think it's possible for someone to starve here unless they really tried. Wild pigs, chickens, and fish everywhere.

So for serious business: the way I see it, judging someone on how much they like their R63'd self is tricky. I think that it needs to be analyzed in terms of how much they like their standard (non R63'd) self, as well as the nature of their feelings for their R63.

Attraction (sexual or emotional) to one's R63 is egocentric in the extreme, as Connor so succinctly pointed out. To me it shows a deep auto-enfatuation that is probably affecting one's behaviour in general, and maybe should be dealt with as a problem. Such egocentrism often leads to the marginalization of other relationships, which can be emotionally damaging to all involved.

However, feeling a friendly toward or proud of one's R63 is not. If I had a pony OC (and if I did it would not be made using General Zoi's thing, just saying), and I R63'd it, I would be proud of it (probably), and I wouldn't hesitate to use it as an avatar or whatever. The only reason that I hesitated to change my avatar earlier was out of fear of typing "Homer Simpson R63" into Google Images (the horror), not because of what I thought others would think (thankfully I remembered at least two canon R63s in the show). I like to think that I'm comfortable with who I am and how I represent myself, and I actually kind of like my female Homer avatar.

When someone feels proud of or comfortable with an R63 version of themselves, it shows that they are secure and confident in who they are, and aren't threatened by others who may perceive them as different (i.e. gay). So, I would say that feeling proud of your R63 is good.

Now, let's see how many people have ninja'd me when I was typing this…

Anyway, I think that they just want to see what they honestly thing of themselves without knowing themselves. Dunno… I just find the fic strange because it is silly, it deals with strange things, I find it strange nopony at all recognized them as clones for the most part, and that they fell in love with themselves; its just strange but entertaining…

Anyway sleepytime, having 20 relatives over for Thanksgiving. Then it will be time for ponies until 4 in the morning, then time for amnesia!

I agree with you that people do choose people with similar interests. But the difference is similar versus identical. Although in actuality, it's probably not; I would tend to think of R63s being peoples' idealized versions of themselves. So when it comes to attraction, no matter how similar to you someone else is, they are still someone else. With R63 attractions, the object is given the connotation of self, which cannot happen in a "normal" relationship, and so the attraction is fundamentally different.

I'm reminded of the Seinfeld episode where Jerry finds that one girl whose personality is identical to his, and they end up hating each other. Throughout that show, the characters are looking for people who share common interests and personality traits (and have great trouble doing so), but in this instance, when Jerry succeeds in finding someone so similar to him, he realizes that he hates himself and that he doesn't want his (complete) personality reflected in his partner. Of course she realizes the same thing.

So back to R63, you have to realize the distinction between being attracted to someone similar to oneself, and being attracted to someone who is labelled as self, and therefore is identical to oneself (except for gender).

Now, I'm not discounting having a deep understanding with a romantic partner; on the contrary, it's quite a thing to have. But there's a difference between having a deep understanding and having a complete and fundamental shared cognition. Anyone who wants the latter, to me, is clearly cripplingly egocentric.

I would have just guessed that any sort of fantasy involving ones own clone would merely be an indication towards ones own desire of finding a like-minded partner. But you have opened up additional ways of looking at it.

I actually just got up. So if someone downvoted you, it wasn't me. (Until just a second ago, anyway.) I explained it on the last page, and we and other users had a discussion about it before. I'm not going to explain it again. Also, don't stress it. I'm using the karma system as it was suggested to be used by Greater Forces (Olivia). Someone else will upvote you to neutral anyway.

On the whole, I don't usually care about how other people approach and react to the show. But I also find it embarrassing for anyone to not keep their composure.

The idea of regular cosplay (unless you're really good at it or do it professionally) confuses me and weirds me out, being honest. But that's because I'm a pretty bland guy. There's nothing wrong with it, and it's not my place to interfere, but it does trigger my "embarrassed for someone else" sense.

And I feel the need to leave the fandom more than actually hitting someone. I have facepalmed more times with Bronies than I have with KYM at large though. Many more times…

But it balances out though.

I agree with Verbose to some extent; I do feel exasperated at rabid fandom (in general) but never to the point of violence. To me, this image sums it all up:

I've never read Homestuck, but the principle is the same. Cosplay and such in general cause negative perceptions of fandom; it's like the fans are trying to shove their obsession down others' throats. Now, I don't totally disparage cosplay, I just think there's a time and a place, and it's fine as long as it's not too obtrusive.

Related: if the CMC held the three pieces of the Triforce (power, courage, and wisdom,) which would they be? I think the only confusion lies with who would get courage and power, but I think Apple Bloom would get power and Scootaloo would have courage.

Not saying that those two wouldn't switch over the course of The Legend, though.
