I've never understood why some prefer to be left in the dark. But I understand the rational.
The thing that makes both sentences true is that I often have the opposite effect to watching spoilers to what most people get.
I get excited, and when the subject rolls around for real, that excitement gets reawakened. And I feel so… Indescribably… Good.
The usual rational for not watching Spoilers is that its going to cause them to not be surprised, and that ussually causes less enjoyment for them.
And… That's okay I guess. But I'm rarely surprised anyways. It comes with the territory of living in this day and age. And such, if I can't enjoy it When it's been thoroughly spoiled, I've failed as a genre savvy audience member.
In fact… It's ussually the spoilers that get me interested. And in fact, it was a whole bunch of spoilers involving derpygate that got me watching MLP in the first place. Having only seen a short clip on YouTube(dubbed over with legend of Zelda), I later spoke with a fan of the show who said all about how out Favorite Blond with demoed eyes spoke… And about the backlash that followed when they changed her voice.
-that spoiler got me interested enough to watch through both entire seasons.
My mind, it grabs for the strings, and attempts to make sense of them, and that curiosity drives me forward. And spoilers play on that, and give me some huge boost in enthusiasm.
Now excuse me while-
-I imagine King Somber as a possible cause of Luna's Corruption. I mean, he's a king of Darkness, loss and sorrow! Don't tell me that doesn't sound like he could have done something.
This fits in well with my Fan comic, despite it's relevance to the plot being far off down the line. Hey, the fact that there's a King Somber now is even better than before.
My Origional Plan? A being of similar power to Luna infected her with the Darkness "Subdomain" (Read: power) of loss. This corrupts her over time causing the first Night Mare Moon Incident. He shows up again ~10 years after NMM's Return. Oh yeah, and this one being from another Timeline to make up for dying/being-Imprisoned/Being-Depowered the first time round.
My new Plan? Exactly the same, except, now he has a name, King Somber, and I don't have to write his personality myself. And I don't have to rely on imagery stolen from Pathfinder RPG instead. (Zon-Kuthon being the closest, but he's kinda… Face-Ripped-off-ish)
…I mention that game too much. Why did I chose to get inspired for the fancomic by that game?
