I get to decide the topic now, don't I? OK…
Outside of the Mane 6, who are families, siblings, and relatives (NOTE: NOT COUPLES OR SHIPS!) we see on the show (that have been either speculated or canon)?
I believe Cheerilee and Berry Punch have very similar appearances, and if they were sisters, they'd be complete opposites of each other. Oh, the sitcoms you can make from a teacher and a party animal…

I'm not the only one seeing resemblance, am I?

Since it must be mentioned, Derpy being Dinky's mom is the only fanon that I hold above canon. This is primarily because a Derpy/Dinky sadfic was the only time my feels were nuked from orbit. They're just too hnnnng/feel inducing for me to give up, even if it means fighting against canon. Thankfully, my fanon damage control teams have successfully stopped Sparkler from ruining everythi--Buck! Damn spider crawling on the ground in my peripheral vision nearly gave me a heart attack. Great, now I'm all itchy.

Why Would Sparkler ruin your Head Canon of Derpy being Dinky's mother?

Sparkler is supposedly Dinky's Sister.

Personally though, whenever I have to think about Derpy's Family in any sense… I invoke the right of temporal shenanigans.

Meaning… Since she spends enough time with a pony known for time travel. She's bound to have screwed up the time space continuity.

For example… Derpy could have Dinky… And then has Sparkler… But she can't handle Sparkler and Dinky at once… So with a quick call to the Doctor… She sends Sparkler back in time to be raised by her own mother alongside herself.

Essentially… Sparkler would then be simultaneously Derpy's Daughter, Adopted Sister, Older than Dinky, and still be her younger Sister.

In Short… Derpy + Doctor Hooves = Temporal Shenanigans

besides… If others can point out that rarity's Parents look the same model as her (Thus age?) then Derpy can get around it as much as she wants.

…Plus Temporal Shenanigans…

@Equestria Girls in theaters

None of the theaters in my area are showing Equestria Girls on opening day. I'll have to wait a week before I get a chance to see it. Will I watch it in theaters? I don't usually go to the movies alone, but if I can watch all the Transformers movies in theaters, if I can watch Dragonball Evolution in theaters, if I can watch The Green Hornet in theaters TWICE , then I can watch Equestria Girls in theaters.

Berry Punch and Cheerilee being sisters has actually been around for quite a while.
I first remember seeing it somewhere close to two years ago now on one of the first Berry Punch Tumblrs here: Linked Because Semi-NSFW

(Berry and Cheerilee are sisters, Pinchy is Berry's daughter, Colgate/Minuette is dating/engaged/married to Berry, and Cheerilee adopted Scootaloo.)

Like xTSGx, I too really like the Derpy/Dinky relationship due to the sheer number of adorable/feelsy pictures and stories that have cropped up around the pair.
Pretty sure that the second fic I ever read (and the first that I liked ) was about them and was a total sadgasm.
I can't really say that I 'hold it above canon,' but I am certainly far more receptive to the fandom's farfetched explanations and work-arounds when canon seems to contradict it.

Canon seems to be pretty heavily implying that Dinky is in fact the daughter of Carrot Top and that stallion, who seems to be known as 'Written Script.'
Luckily, the fans swooped in to save their favorite family and explained this apparent contradiction away by combining two pre-established bits of fanon.
Since Derpy and Carrot Top have long been considered friends/roommates, it was just assumed that this was Carrot taking Dinky on a trip while Derpy stayed in Ponyville, perhaps because she was helping to repair town hall… since she destroyed it.
It's a flimsy reorganization of facts presented, but I'll take it for Derpy and Dinky!

Anyway, I've noticed Octavia looks similar to Inky Pie. Could it be possible Octavia is related to Pinkie?

As for Octy and Fiddlesticks, I believe Fiddlesticks is Octavia in disguise, similar to Abyss and Joseph Park (you know, if you watch pro wrestling).

What would make a better observation is that Inky's Color is just a little off from Octavia's color… In much the same way the Pinkamena is a little bit darker in shade than Pinkie Ussualy is.

And Pinkie was in Pinkamena Color Scheme before she saw the sonic Rainboom.

So Octavia… Is probably just Inky when she Finally got her Swing on.

Erm… Something like that.

I'd kill for an episode revisiting Pinkie's family and where they are now. I was so certain that we'd finally get it in the third season, but no dice. It would be interesting to see who her sisters grew up to be, and what her parents are doing these days.

Perhaps we'll finally get this episode in the fourth season. I'm crossing my fingers!

There are also a number of other families that are relatively untouched that I'd like to see in the show. Once again, let's hope the fourth season delivers!

And I did notice that, but I didn't think they looked exactly alike (mainly because of their age difference).

In my head cannon, since I see many of the background ponies older than the Mane 6 in the sequences of the Cutie Mark Chronicles, I think they're older by about 5-10 years. Plus, they have children, which may make them slightly older if the Mane 6 are assumed to be college-aged in the show.

Actually another reference would be great. With the angle your current avatar is at it's a little difficult to see the details in the legs and such. If it's possible to get a picture similar to the generic pony pose that would be awesome.

@Octie and Pinkie: The headcanon that the two are sisters was a headcanon that I wanted to bring myself to believe, but never could. Like many here, the color scheme was just too off for me to find it believable, and I don't think any ponies change their mane or coat color as they age (until their mane goes gray like Granny Smith)

Wait, Derpy is younger than Cheerilee? I thought Cheerilee was the same age as the Mane 6 (Rarity's Cutie Mark story in Chronicles). These time paradoxes…

Here's my headcanon of each of their ages (as of the present in FiM):
-Mane 6, Cheerilee, and other notable ponies that were foals in Cutie Mark Chronicles are all between college age and early adulthood (before 22 years in human).
-Lyra, Derpy, Bonbon, the Cakes, Mayor Mare and other background ponies are older than Mane 6.
-Foals like Applebloom, Scootaloo, Sweetie Belle, and others in their class are between ages of 8 and 12 years.
-Younger foals like the Cake Twins are toddlers/ infants
- Other notable characters who haven't been seen in the past flashbacks, such as the Wonderbolts, are still undetermined at the time, but can be assumed to be around the same age or slightly older than the Mane 6 (I say slightly older as Spitfire runs an academy while R.D. is a student at said academy).

Does this make sense? I'd like to hear what you guys think about their ages.

Mane Six: 20 or 21, except for Fluttershy who is 22.

CMC and other fillies and colts: 5 to 8.

Cheerilee: 23.

Lyra and Bon Bon: 22.

Derpy: 19.

The Cakes: Mid-30's (can't pinpoint exact age)

Cake Twins: Around 2 by now.

Trixie: 21.

Gilda: 23.

Celestia: 1,427 years, 11 months, 2 weeks.

Vinyl Scratch (as well as Ace): 24.

Octavia: 25.

Dr. Whooves: I don't watch Doctor Who, somebody help me out with this.

Luna: 1,238.

Cadance: 28.

Shining Armor: 29.

Big Mac: 26.

Granny Smith: 85.

Spitfire: 22.

Soarin: 21.

Totally related.

I sometimes think Luna and Celestia are actually twins and Celestia just calls herself the Elder Sister cause she was born five minuites earlier.

On every other Pony's age… I don't think it matters…

Since every story I even attempt to write has so many time shenanigans going on that age is technically irrelevant.

Heck, at one point I planed to write Granny Smith as a 1000 year old Witch who was once part of Luna's court for a brief stint when the Farm had economy problems, and retired to the Farm when she was done.

…She keeps herself alive that long using Hydra Extracts and other concoctions…

It's up to some debate. Considering how much he travels back-and-forth through time, it's likely he doesn't know how old he is. He lost count. It's just pretty well assured he's over 1200 years old (perhaps into the range of thousands of years old), making the Princesses about his age, or perhaps even younger than he is.
