We've had our IRC chatroom up for a couple of months now, and we've had some great discussions in there.

But there are a lot of users, new and old alike, who seem to be missing out on a lot of the core debates, decisions, and development leaks (oops, my bad) have happening.

So in case you haven't taken the time to check out the chat yet, take a look.

"irc://irc.freenode.net/#knowyourmeme":irc://irc.freenode.net/#knowyourmeme

Feel free to use your favorite IRC client to connect to #knowyourmeme on freenode.

For those who would prefer a java-based web-client, try http://java.freenode.net/, give yourself a nickname, and enter #knowyourmeme as the room.

KVIrc is an excellent cross-platform dedicated client. It is available for Windows, Mac OSX, and most Linux distributions.
Once you install KVIrc and are at the main window (if any other windows show up, close them), go to Settings>Configure Servers, then scroll to where it says "Freenode". Click on Freenode to highlight it, then click the "New Server" button. It should expand with a new entry called "irc.unknown.net", which should be highlighted. Now in the text box beneath the list, it will also say "irc.unknown.net". Replace this text with "irc.freenode.net". Click on "Advanced", choose your username and nickname. You may also enter a password if you have a registered nick. Other fields are optional. Click on the "Join Channels" tab. In the box in the lower-left part of the window, enter "#knowyourmeme", and click "Add". Now click "OK", and, with the server you've just added (irc.freenode.net) highlighted, click "Connect Now", then "OK" to close the dialog. You should be taken directly to the KYM IRC.

my ip has been banned from the channel? I assume it was @chanserv doing the evil works, as only @Tomberry was the only Op on.

I can still go on by freenode chat client, but I cant from mirc…

EDIT: haha disregard this, Tomberry unintentionally was the culprit.

Why are there a bunch of people talking suicide bombings and stuff and how to make bombs?
EDIT: /SARC
