Those who Left Gamergate: Why did you Leave?

I'm not sure if this is the right place to put a thread like this, but we'll see.
I'll probably get a lot of flak for making a thread like this.
Anyways, this is a thread meant for people who left Gamergate to talk about why they decided to leave, be it stress, or some other reason.

I'll start. I used to be an avid pro-GGer, getting involved when I saw a ton of gamergate images on the image gallery. I ended up leaving a long time ago, though. The main reason was stress: hearing constantly about how the SJWs/radical feminists are slowly taking over gaming and society was actually really stressful. The stress interfered with school and other aspects of my life.
Second, I gradually began to believe that pro-GGers would believe any news they hear from any source that supports them. To me, they treated sources such as 8chan as infallible. To me, the limit was when pro-GGers on 8chan linked Gamergate to a fucking conspiracy involving the Common Core, saying that the entire controversy was being used by SJWs and the elite to push Common Core into society. Holy. Fucking. Shit. I got pissed that 8chan was dragging its fucking conspiracy theories into Gamergate, and worse yet, so many pro-GGers swallowed it easily.
Also, pro-GGers were constantly talking about how their recent efforts would TOTALLY defeat the anti-GGers for sure! But anti-GG was never defeated. The pro-GGers' efforts didn't end Gamergate in a victory for them as they kept saying. Also, the lack of big happenings in Gamergate made me less interested in the movement.
Finally, one of the most important reasons for why I left Gamergate was how pro-GGers would easily turn their backs on any famous figures who declared they were anti-GG. I thought they let their pedestals break way too easily. It's possible they didn't know about Gamergate, and only heard the anti-GG opinions of the movement. Maybe the pro-GGers should have informed them about the pro-GG side in order to convince them to become pro-GG. Unless said famous figures have reached a point where they're irreversibly anti-GG (like Extra Credits or Jimmy Wales), you shouldn't immediately drop the famous figures you like just because they announced they oppose Gamergate.

Ultimately, I became a neutral (initally pro-leaning, but later completely neutral), and I feel much better now. Of course, I have a low opinion of SJWs and radical feminists, so don't accuse me of supporting SJWs and/or radical feminists, okay?

I used to be moderately involved and I do still maintain a heavy dislike of the radical elemsnts of left leaning politics, as well as the cultural and societal morality police who feel the need to make everything politicized with heavily racist and sexist rhetoric such as peoples race and genders being the main determining factor for everything.

Here's the problem though, at least on Twitter which I would argue is one of the main aggravate sites for gg, gamergate became it's own form of cultural and social justice warrior. Everything had to be a big conspiracy to push trash tier content if a news site so much as gave a tiny compliment. The boycotts which at first made sense to target journalists sites spread out to become its own form of blacllist and blocklist. Anyone who didn't toe the line with uniform condemnation or commendation was smacked down hard, and trying to question thid got you shut out with a "send more emails", as if thst suddenly made being treated like shit a good thing.

You see talking heads flocked to a lot, milo becoming analogous to ben kuchera and sommers becoming ggs own version of anita for so called academic analysis of games. Even on here you saw people trying to push games which shit on sjws being the best and anything they liked as garbage. Then there was the really hard to watch stuff, people turning into grammer police, using ad hominem and strawmen like crazy, constantly misinterpreting a post and writing huge ass diatribes about why this person was wrong and citing stuff they never even said or did, and in general being nothing but mouthpieces for boards like /v/, /co/, and /pol/.

It was sad to watch, but doing all that made them little better then sjws, persecution complex and all. So I gradually stopped posting and started posting more on the forums as a disgruntled neutral and gg-leaning moderate.

Initially, I supported GG's cause.
Then I lost interest because it all quickly devolved into what looked like a big internet shit-flinging festival.
I'd rather be playing video games than waste my time arguing about them on the internet.

Im still pretty salty about sjws and the like but I thought the impact GG made initially was sufficient. It rocked the boat hard and got a lot of people talking right out the gate. So much so that nowadays I feel like there's not much more that can be said that hasn't already been said.

I used to be really big into GG, but eventually I lost interest. Mainly because after everything that happened, it really was just a bunch of drama over things that didn't really make that big a difference. Review scores might be a big deal to developers, but they aren't to me. Zoe Quinn got her 15 minutes of fame, and now she's just a curious piece of internet history.

Anita Sarkesian isn't liked by a lot of people, so she isn't someone targeted only by Gamergate. Extreme Feminists and SJWs affect all forms of media, not just video games. I also stopped following video game journalists completely, due to their continued breach of trust so I pretty much just find news off of sites like this.

So I still follow their general cause (mainly preventing censorship and divulging info about paid promotions) I don't really feel the need to bring it up because it just carries a connotation of right-wing gamer who hates feminism. Obviously that's not true, but you only have one chance to make a first impression and many people stop conversation once they hear key groups and associates.

I was never really a part of GamerGate. I paid attention for about a week before deciding it boiled down to two groups of people with serious victim complexes taking pot shots at each other over shit that doesn't matter. Since then, I've dropped into the conversation once every couple of months out of morbid curiosity to see what everyone's bitching about this time.

It just became too immature, repetitive, and obnoxious.
I'm all for ethics in games journalism – hell, any journalism – but it just became another internet flame war.
Now it just seems reeeeally stupid, especially when people tell you not to like a person because "they stand here on the GG issue". Maybe I'm used to either separating content from creator's opinions, or just used to the fact I have shit taste in everything in general
¯\(ツ)

To be perfectly honest…

I got bored. The whole thing was pretty fun at first, but once it lost all its steam I decided to forget about it and move on to something else. I never was too involved in the movement, all I did was stay up to date on the happenings.

I personally never considered myself "in" GG, though I followed it from pretty much the very beginning, but rather was a passive supporter. From that perspective, I think this is where a lot of the problems came from:
Some of the people that took up the label were nutjobs/idiots, as with every group ever made ever. In this case, those folks tended to coagulate into one fairly distinct "faction"- the "never apologize" crowd, who took the concept of "never apologize to SJWs" and ramped it up to such a ludicrous degree that they just basically got big boners off of acting like they were perfect logical beings who're right on everything, and would accuse people who point out even in passing that online harassment does exist and is bad of being feminist double agents. (Though this might just be my bias talking, they seemed to be pretty distinctly right-wing.) From everyone else, there was definitely some reluctance in pointing out that this was a thing, because the feeling that you are on the "good side" is an intoxicating one, and recognizing that there's a pack of bumblefucks who profess to be on it takes away from that.
But overall, I'm still okay with it. Shit, there'd be a pretty big hole in my Youtube subscriptions if it wasn't for this vague as fuck hashtag group/movement/thing.

To be honest I'm just more disillusioned about GG more than anything. Do your stereotypical SJW types still annoy me? Yes. Do I find it bullshit when some of these types of people try and bar a game like Hatred (even if it is "so-so," the game isn't racist, sexist, whatever) from being sold? Yes. Did I enjoy it when the recent season of South Park took pot shots at the PC Police crowd? Yes.

But at the same time… I'm really finding parts of the anti-SJW side to be no better. You know how an SJW will get offended by something hardly including any women or non-whites? I'm seeing radical anti-SJWs get pissy when something DOES feature a woman or a non-white person as the lead, see the new Star Wars as a good example of something I've seen being complained about by people who I can best describe as "these people are just actual racists and sexists piggybacking off of causes like Gamergate just to make their racism, sexism, etc feel validated."

Also I find it ironic how easy it is to "trigger" an anti-SJW with things like calling out legitimate racism, sexism, etc, as they'll be all like "but muh freedom of speech!" apparently forgetting "you know that freedom of speech means I can call you out on your bullshit too ya know?" As I feel these people frankly should have been weeded out of Gamergate long ago because having people on the pro-GG side who are just as much of extremists as people on the anti-GG side makes the pro-GG side look no better to people who prefer to stay neutral. It turns into a cycle of "the easily offended" just fighting against "those who like to be offensive assholes for the sake of being offensive assholes and nothing else."

Also I think GG is wasting it's time with crap like the removal of a boob slider in Xenoblade X or the removal of the petting minigame in Fire Emblem Fates. Those things are so damn minor and hardly worth making such a fuss about.

After a few months I realized that waving a flag has done nothing but harm those who who's interests are actually interested in journalistic ethics. As much as pro GG want to deny it, there are pro GG people who are sexist and think the only way to help is by harassing people. And there are plenty of people who just wants to be an asshole and think's free speech is a valid excuse. That doesn't mean I think people should silence critique and censor games, just keep the bad games so we can laugh at and tell others not to make them like that.

I never supported GamerGate because I could not get my head around how so many people take videogame reviews this seriously. I mean who cares about Assad in syria, this game got 9/10 instead of a 10/10.

The GG section more or less became every bit as antagonistic and butt-plugged as the "ESS-JAY-DOOB-YAHS" they are constantly against. And the moment someone dares to not follow their exact line of vision or desires. I will not deny that most of them are well-intentioned, but again, it's as bad as the people they're against.

It took me so long to figure out what exactly GG was (since I tend to shy away from controversies, or, at the very least, new ones) that by the time I "figured out" the whole thing (which involved learning about gamer culture as a whole, and its subcultures, video game journalism, what exactly Tumblr was, a closer look at both contemporary and radical feminism, learning what sjws and triggers were, the whole timeline of events, etc. which is not easy with someone who is prone to being too literal-minded and has a bit of a difficult time understanding people in general) that by the time I felt comfortable that I had an informed opinion on the matter that the majority of people who "remained" on either side were a bit too… confrontational for my tastes.
And I agree that the horseshoe theory is in full force here. I'd share my thoughts on the topic, but I frel like I'd mostly be repeating Ms Fortune's thoughts on the subject, so I'll skip it.
I feel like the internet has gotten more polarized on "progressive" or "ethical" issues (like minority representation or what constitutes censorship, respectively) after GG, but I fully realize that's a subjective and potentially flawed observation, and even if I'm right, it's a chicken or egg situation, since politics (in the U.S. at least) and the internet (or the part of it I frequent, at least) seem to have become more polarized over the years as well.

I left pro GG when I told a friend about it. He then got quite worried and sort of depressed so I told him it's all fine and we didn't have to care about people arguing about what's in video games, we should just have fun playing them. I also left because it went downhill very fast at one point.

I stopped supporting GamerGate because I felt that it was no longer a debate about video game journalism and gamers, but about GGers alone.

For me personally, I called time after we gained what i felt was important (sites have either changed their tune or have lost all respect except by those on the extreme of either side), honestly, Gamergate really has no more purpose outside of being a watchdog group

I've never done anything active regarding GamerGate, but for the most part of it I was a sideline supporter, mainly because the AntiGG side seems the more insane of the two.

These days though it's completetly irrelevant. I don't know what they even have left to protest against, apart from 'them ebil no fun es jay double ewes'

Also the whole 'ethics' argument evaporated maybe about a month. If anything it was just a gaming culture war after that. You've also gotta love the complaints of 'Tumblrinas living in their bubbles' when the GG image gallery and comment section is a bigger circlejerk than the PC master race.

I left in November 2014 because I realized I had a very serious medical condition. When I came back after leveling my head after that I couldn't follow it anymore since it was mainly just stupid shit on twitter. Then I realized it was always just stupid shit on twitter.

:)

I left after i realized that sjw's have no real power to change the gaming industry. I mean, sure, some companies will change things in order to be more progressive (which i have no problem with), but so long as people keep buying AAA titles, those companies will never stop. Hell, Rockstar has been putting up with this shit for years, think their gonna stop just because someone on youtube uploaded a video calling them sexist.

The other reason is because i truly don't believe that the movement is about "Ethics in games journalism", if that were the case, they would have done this years ago, the movement is anti-sjw through and through, all you need do is just read through the comment section of this site to see that. But you know something, there's nothing wrong with that. There is nothing wrong with saying, "i think sjw's are annoyingly belligerent, so lets prevent any power and influence they may gain over media". But don't give me this bullshit about trying to stand for game ethics"

I mean, maybe for people like Totalbiscuit, AlphaOmegaSin, and ReviewtechUSA, this has been about games, but for guys like InternetAristrocrat, and Milo, this shit isn't about video games, it never has been.

Oh boy. I did slightly indulge myself in the KYM page as a somewhat pro-GG person but I turned neutral due to few things:

1. Some radicals from GG that don't accept logic and reason. Not giving any names here, cause I want to avoid stirring shit.

2. After that fake Anita tweet about Iwata and how easily some people fell for it, I've been growing disillusioned about GG. You wanna call out people for acting like idiots? Fine. You want to call out people for being generally terrible people? Fine. But I ain't gonna take shitting on them for something they haven't done.

3. As repulsive as Randi Harper and Sarah Nyberg are, I think some GG supporters are just as bad. The Ralph Retort, for one.

That's my few quids.

Started at the inception of the events,

Activity didn't extent further than editing the entry page on occasion

eventually grew dissillusioned and silently left for reasons that Ms. Foturne, Black Graphic T and Ryumaru Borkie already mentioned.

I've been lurking and following GG since its beginnings on this site; while I was never active, in some regard, I did consider myself pro-GG. Nowadays, I hardly keep up with GG's current events; I still kinda support GG, but I'm way more neutral about it now. And, like Fortune, all this PC, censorship crap is really tiring and kinda disillusioned me to GG antics.

Gamergate, i loved it with my heart and soul. It was the reason to come to this site.
I was there since the beginning and stayed there for a long time…
I witnessed many events: some were boring, some were exciting.
Great times i had there, helped me to look at things from many perspectives.
So why leaving? It's because i felt that gamergate has already accomplished what it originally strived for. Last E3 event and the panel in august proved that. Of course one can argue that point of view but in my eyes, the biggest part was finally over. Nothing of particular interest really happened since then.
So i stopped my "daily links n' tweets" routine.
The things that people talk about in the gg-fora nowadays aren't as interesting as they used to be. Walls of text…Irrelevant chit-chat…bitching about SJW's…etc
I still support gamergate, but i don't have an active role anymore. The flame is just gone…

I try to do some work at this site instead but it seems that i'm quite lazy. Just don't have the motivation.

I joined (sorta) because I thought it would fight all the BSness in the video game industry. It didn't, it was just a big feel-good circlejerk with a vague crusade against SJWs.

I left after 3 days, one of my worst decisions.

I don't know if I ever considered myself fully part of it. I certainly commented on it a lot, and more often that not took the side of GG, and still speak out against any radical progressivism I see trying to warp the culture. I just never felt the need to put on my armor and go brigading on twitter and social media; call me a coward, but at the heat of it, it could become more than just a headache. Plus I still consider myself somewhat liberal, and am baffled when someone on the GG side brands Rebecca Sugar and the Crewniverse as SJW's when they haven't acted like it, and only managed to integrate progressive tropes without being to on the nose about it.

I realized nothing in the way of actual ethcs was getting done. What made me permantly, forever divorced and switched to the social justice side was looking at anti-gg spaces and going "Wow, some of the shit gg says is really shitty". I also abandoned them and my former antifeminist ideals when FPH on reddit got banned and gg supporters were against it and pao. Not cool, guys.

Don't really know what constitutes being "in" or not "in" gamergate. I still have a great deal of trouble understanding what GamerGate actually is. The gist I got was it was about ethics in gaming journalism. If that's the case I'd have hoped the community focused strongly on the corrupt bargaining behind the scenes that sites such as IGN will engage in.

I "followed" the Zoe Quinn debacle and Gamergate for a few weeks. It was hilarious; a big internet war over God-knows-what. Then I "left" because it got boring. It got into a circular, never-ending pissing match. The groups who proclaimed themselves to be "Gamergaters" or "anti-SJWs" ended up becoming inverted SJWs in their own bizarre way.

All in all, it was a hoot during its prime, but the fact that there are people who use "Gamergater" or "anti-GG" as insults in arguments to this day is fucking dumb.

Once it devolved into a shit flinging contest to see who can get into the most twitter fights. It basically went from a story about media corruption to anti SJW shit. I also saw it slowly becoming too radical it. You couldn't have any negative opinion about it without being labeled as a SJW. About 2 months in and the horse shoe effect kicked in and SOME people in the movement basically acted as radical as SJWs

I also realized I don't give a shit about ethics in games journalism because games journalism is a fucking joke anyway and I really only follow and respect the opinion of 1. Small independent youtubers 2. Word of mouth from facebook and KYM

Basically what im getting from reading this thread and nearly every social group in the past 5 years or so has been high jacked by complete radicals with no chill who warp a movement into an extreme. So many people here writing about how they left because of how bad the community turned on their own people.

This is why when the next big GG type thing happens the group needs strong leaders who can keep the rest of the groups goals on track and be a figure head so there aren't a million voices clocking up the air waves for the people who are opposite to cherry pick the radical voices. Just ONE person who can speak out and say 'This is what we believe in im telling you right now as our leader for this this and this and don't let people try to twist it around' Someone to lead people to spisifc goals instead of multiple groups of people all targeting different goals

Yeah im sorry but this hippy bullshit of leaderless movements doesn't work. Occupy wall street fell apart because you had all the people there for the original reason then it was high jacked and piggy backed off of by other interests. Watch that Daily show episode about OWS its fucking embarrassing

BLM is completely warped to shit. There are several BLM protest groups all with different branches and all the radicals get the media attention

Do I even have to say whats going on with internet feminism right now and how the very word is accosted with radicalism?

I became disillusioned with Gamergate because:

- Stress
- School
- Some Gamergate supporters have become as bad as those that they speak out against
- If you say that both sides are as bad as each other, you're branded as a "high and mighty" moral crusader on their moral high horse
- Gamergate supporters have taken the bait laid out by their detractors multiple times
- They have derailed from their original cause and now are doing jack shit in my eyes
- Instead of doing shit and convincing people they have created their own little circlejerks and are just complaining about other non-related Gamergate things
- They don't want to acknowledge that there are bad individuals
- They keep reaffirming that they are not dead or have not done their job as they need to go after the SJWs despite their decline in popularity
- A lot of other reasons, some of which are personal

Pretty much for a lot of the same reasons that were mentioned previously by other individuals in this thread honestly. And going back to my points, I mean it had a thing going for it but since they're doing jack, why even bother? I still oppose what the people against Gamergate say, and I still somewhat support it, but it's just that it's gotten to the point where I can't support this movement in its current form. But that's just me.

Okay storytime:
In 2014, I knew about GamerGate since it first came out with the whole bizzare little 4chan pretending to hack Zoey Quinn's website or some shit. I wasn't really interested but I still kind of felt like I should support it or something.
However, when the whole "Gamer's Are Dead" clickbait article incident happened I suddenly got super into GamerGate and was checking KotakuInAction every five minutes, drawing fan-art of Vivian James, and all that stuff. I remember getting so pissed off by the SJWs and their wicked ways of ruining video games and going on witch hunts of anyone who was anti-gamergate.
Eventually tho, I got bored of it and realised that I never cared about what GamerGate was supposed to stand for, just that it was being persecuted by Kotaku and friends and needed to be stood up for.
Talking about "ethics in video game journalism" is boring and no one would want to talk about that so why not just make 100 reddit posts about what Anita Sarkesian had for breakfast.

It just never ended. No matter how many times people would say 'we're winning,' it didn't go anywhere. And as it went on, I feel like it became less and less about ethics in gaming journalism, and more and more about about opposing SJWs.

It just seemed pointless to me tbh. In the beginning, I honestly had no idea what was going on. The whole internet seemed to be in a tiz with the Quinnspiracy. I never really cared about the games-journalism part and instead focused on the Anti-sjw part. All the Social justice out-rage and all the lol-your-just-another-Mens-rights-activist bullshit made me incredibly angry.

I was motivated to stay because all the character assassination and delibarately provocative nature of some people pissed me the hell off. The shear number of times I heard Misogyny, objectification, and priviledge were as numerous as the stars. All I associated feminism with was outrage, passive-aggressivness, and immature shit-flinging.

But at the back of my mind, I knew, though I denied it, that some were making valid points. Then a certain feminist on Tumblr (the sane variety) changed a lot of my past views in less than 3 days. People, DO YOU KNOW HOW WIERD IT FEELS TO HAVE YOUR REALITY LITERALLY INVERT ON YOU? The whole world seemed completely different to me from that day. I was more willing to see opposing opinions and thats when all the invisible cracks in GG were visible to me.

The whole WW2 analogy was crazy and just showed how much GG had been blown out of proportion. The boogeyman mentality was visible to me. Now I couldn't see any female character in games as a character but now a political statement for ALL women. GG ironically took the fun out of video games.

Then personal issues came back to haunt me and I broke down and I recovered and came back a very different person like one of those stories about people disappearing in caves or mountains then coming back more enlightened or calm. I'mfar more open to the concerns of Social Justice (when its about doing the right thing and not using it as an excuse to bully and harrass)

Now, does this mean I think GG hasn't done good? No. For one thing, GG pointed out that Gamers (not all but many) were angry. The "Gamers are dead" articles, "Intimidation Game" were seen as a repeat of the whole "Video Games cause violence" controversy". Gamers felt like they were being targeted and lashed out. I was angry to.

It's also important to point out that the media LOVES stories about women facing back-lash for speaking their minds. Anita was defended endlessly but not ONCE did I PERSONALLY ever she her attempt to defend her views when legit criticism came. The media just defended her because WOMAN. There was never a legit threat against her, she broke promises and never apologised or gave an excuse, she never needed the money for her videos especially when a lot of her beliefs about gaming are deeply flawed (it's a long story involving cultivation theory, the concept of play, player choice, the fact the objectification isn't inherently good or bad, blaj blah blah)

GamerGate brought out the worst in people on BOTH sides. I sympathise with many feminist issues, but I also know that the Media has not been fair to gamers. There were legitimate misogynysts. Our movement was the perfect weapon. Leaderless, like Anonymous and like anonymous, all it took as just using the hashtag to say you were GG. And now we're stuck with all the /pol/tards, MGTOWS and red pillers from the last 2 years. Ice Cube was right when he said "Gamers, just play your games" The media is shit and will ALWAYS be shit. It doesn't judge women or feminists on merit and is condecendingly nice to them even when they are at fault (female-pedophiles anyone?) Probably because of it's AWFUL history with feminism and women in the past going possibly even further back than the first-wave

Last edited Feb 20, 2016 at 03:18PM EST

I didn't understand it at first, but then when it started getting big I heard about it because a very prominent anti-environmentalist – a man I absolutely despise – started praising it, talking about how feminists were conspiring against gamers. This certain talking head had pulled this argument [a shadowy cabal of X is manipulating the media and the court of public opinion to push its I(insert anti-liberal buzzword] agenda) in many different contexts in the past and it was clearly bullshit that time just like every previous time. Then I started getting called an "SJW" left and right in just about any context, seemingly always from somebody with a green/purple icon. I pretty quickly shed any vestige of sympathy for GG at that point.

Last edited Feb 20, 2016 at 09:33PM EST

I can't say that I joined GG (even though I subscribed to kotakuinaction to stay up to date with everything ) I had sympathy with their cause, but as the situation kept dragging on and on I just felt tired of it because of balant crazynes of their supporters.

I supported there cause. But (like most of every one here) I left when there goals got mixed-up. I came to the point where I said to myself, "Why I'm I wasting my time with a movement that doesn't know what the fuck they want in gaming, when I should just play games?" That, and it looked like it was gonna go on for the rest of my life. I had better things to do. And that why I stopped giving a shit. I would post a comment on the image in the gallery once in a blue moon. But thats about it.

Also, another reason I left Gamergate (and something that still annoys me) is how they keep dragging it into anything remotely related to what could be considered censorship of games or any other game controversy. This sounds really stupid, but the thing is, I thought the movement was about ethics in games journalism. Sure, I can understand the ethics stuff, but it gets really annoying when people jump onto game-related controversies and immediately drag gamergate into it when it likely wasn't related to it. For example, the FE Fates Localization controversy: I'm annoyed they removed petting and made stupid changes, but when people start saying it was anti-GG/the SJWs fault (or implying otherwise, through saying stuff like "This was done to push a narrative"), it gets REALLY annoying. Holy crap, don't drag GamerGate into this when this stuff has NOTHING to do with GamerGate. I just saw news on the GG page about how Target Australia is using plain packaging for R18+ video games and found it pretty stupid that it was on there. That's more of an issue with Australia being stupidly strict and sensitive over video game ratings (The Australian Classification Board is notorious for how strict it is with video games, after all) than the influence of game-hating feminists and SJWs (I'm not gonna go into the GTAV-Target Australia stuff though).

Speaking of GamerGate being brought up in game issues outside of games journalism… one of the biggest things I hate about GamerGate is how it got horribly sidetracked in the first place. It used to be all about ethics in games journalism, but when games journalism started playing the misogyny card to pit feminists and SJWs against pro-GGers, GamerGate pretty much degenerated into a convoluted battle to stop those evil feminists/SJWs from destroying gaming through politically-correct censorship. Seriously, by giving them attention, pro-GG has pretty much made things worse! And this mistake was made at the beginning of GamerGate, for crying out loud!

Not to mention the 8chan and voat circlejerking, considering that they're filled with pro-GGers who believe the sites are totally rad bastions of free speech.
