Hey, have any of you guys been following project Atlantis? It's 4chonz's attempt to rally behind their hero zach, from the oprah contest online. Apparently, the company sponsoring the contest has rigged the votes, putting the second place person in front of the leader, who 4chan luvs. I don't have any examples,but I just wondered if I was the only dude following this.

Yeah, I've seen Zach Anner's video and seen 4chan's support for him. I think it's awesome that they support him. He's got cerebral palsy, and a great sense of humor. If you haven't watched it yet, I think you should.

What's great, is that he's lived his whole life being well-aware of how most people get kind of freaked out by people with disabilities. That's a sweeping generalization, sure, but it's true. Most people don't know how to handle themselves when confronted with someone in a wheelchair, who can't fully control their limbs, etc.

And rather than get jaded about how people suck, he cracks self-deprecating jokes with the subtext of "I know you feel awkward. It's okay. It's no secret that I'm different." And then he endears himself by turning out to be fucking hilarious, and genuinely likable.

Here's his thank-you message to all of his supporters.

I hope that he wins, and if it's true that the company sponsoring the contest has rigged the results than I hope some kind of serious shit-storm heads their way, but before you make accusations like that, the burden of proof lies on you.

Sorry for not making this clear, but any rumors of rigged voting are all ALLEGED. I know there's no stable footing for any of these accusations. I was just wondering who else was following this. Also, make sure you've seen his video. Pure genius. I've met him before, brilliant guy.

I really hope he wins, I would watch that show.

in the span of an hour around or just before 3pm EDT, the woman who had been trailing Anner for some time, Doctor Phyllis, took the lead. And she did so at what sounds to be an unbelievable rate. The Huffington Post reports an increase of 300,000 votes in 20 minutes. Reddit reports 600,000 in an hour. Either way, the voting rates being bandied around are astounding, corroborate with what many Internet denizens who have been following the proceedings saw, and justly aroused suspicion.

…it turns out that in theory, coming in first or second doesn’t actually matter at all in terms of whether Zach would eventually get his own show or not.

At the end of the article, it seems that there might have been some foul-play in the numbers, but all 10 finalists will go on to compete for the show, in a reality tv game show. The votes only decide who the finalists are, but not the overall winner.

So really, Zach's got little to worry about.

Well hopefully they don't make him do anything physical.
