Apparently he has glioblastoma.

Hopefully he's one of the lucky few.

Thats some horrible cancer to suffer from.

Well that's not good.

However, life expectancy following diagnosis depends on many factors.

higher Karnofsky performance (a standard measure of the ability of patients with cancer to perform daily tasks) score at diagnosis; and treatment with chemotherapy and radiation therapy are all associated with a better prognosis.

Dunno anything about that.

The extent to which the tumor is able to be removed also appears to influence the outcome.

Well that's a good thing, given the NBC article says the following:

"They [the Mayo Clinic] say in their report they gave us that they got most of the tumor, or at least they think they did. It's very difficult to do that,"

The McCain senate website says that it's a primary tumor, which is the aggressive version according to the American Brain Tumor Association.

Primary, or de novo: These tumors tend to form and make their presence known quickly. This is the most common form of glioblastoma; it is very aggressive.

For adults with more aggressive glioblastoma, treated with concurrent temozolamide and radiation therapy, median survival is about 14.6 months and two-year survival is 30%. However, a 2009 study reported that almost 10% of patients with glioblastoma may live five years or longer.

Basically, this is going to kill him. The question is, will it be soon, or will he have a decent amount of time ahead of him.

I dont like him, I admit it, he should have retired years ago and I think america will be a little better off when he's out of office. But my dislike does not extend to wishing the man to die not knowing who he is.

I'm amazed how John McCain's mom is still around in the age of 105. It be tragic if she outlives her son if his illness take its toll.

Kinda expected with how cancerous politics can get.

John McCain left hospital stay paid by taxes on flight paid by taxes to remove health insurance from taxpayers.

While I'm not a fan of the guy, the only thing I can say is that it sucks he has a brain tumor. That's just about it (can't say much else since I never paid attention to him since last I heard of him was from the 2008 elections of him vs Obama).

Did people use to make fun of McCain before? Did something else other than tumor happen to change people's opinion on him?

Sudden, tragic events in a person's life allows others to reflect on that person's life and all they accomplished.
Mr. John McCain is a war hero who I have political disagreements with, but with what he pulled in the late night between last Thursday and Friday on the healthcare vote was hilarious and badass.

I respect this man, and my respect is something seldom given out. He fought bravely for our country, treated Obama with consideration during the 2008 election, and, as BrentD15 said, he struck down the GOP healthcare bill.
