<<Dear american friends,

Your government is hiding from you some very simple yet major truth.

Half of the time, when you are writing or speaking, you're doing it in French.

Protip : O.Fr. = Old French

faggot (1)
late 13c., "bundle of twigs bound up," from O.Fr. fagot "bundle of sticks," […] Especially used for burning heretics (a sense attested from 1550s), so that phrase fire and faggot was used to mean "punishment of a heretic." Heretics who recanted were required to wear an embroidered figure of a faggot on their sleeve, as an emblem and reminder of what they deserved.

fail
early 13c., from O.Fr. faillir "be lacking, miss, not succeed,"

fool (n.)
late 13c., from O.Fr. fol "madman, insane person,"

channel
c.1300, "bed of running water," from O.Fr. chanel "channel, tube, pipe, gutter,"

troll (v.)
late 14c., "to go about, stroll," later (early 15c.) "roll from side to side, trundle," from O.Fr. troller, a hunting term, "wander, to go in quest of game without purpose,"

Could you please tell us where is your GOD now ?>>

Found this on a French imageboard opening itself to an /int/ sub-board.

and the rest half of the time you're speaking in Greek

meme (n): coined by Richard Dawkins in his book The Selfish Gene. It comes from the greek word memesis (μήμησις) meaning the act of imitating someone/thing's behaviour.

Magnet (n): (from F*cking Magnets), from the greek magnetis lethos (μαγνήτης λίθος = magnesian stone)

Phonetic (adv) (from Phonetic Translations), from greek phoni (φωνή) meaning voice

Philosophy (as in Philosoraptor), from Philos (φίλος = beloved) and Sophia (σοφία = wisdom).

(can't come up with others right now)

Yes I am aware about half our words is of French origin, mostly adjectives. And the language that English evolved from, German, has about 8 words that are in common usage today.
