I honestly don't like them now having a monopoly on all these iconic properties. Like holy shit they own pretty much every relevant super hero, star wars, alien, predictor, ect.

Im already getting sick of star wars being overly saturated and super hero movies being watered down copy paste movies with just enough changes to make them feel fresh but at the same time same-ish.

I want other people to make shit too

Looks like Star Wars has come full circle in a way:

-Distributed by 20th Century Fox
-Star Wars bought by Disney
-Disney buys 20th Century Fox

So, this is how creativity freedom dies. With thunderous acquisitions.

Even worse is the people who think this is good because there's a possibility they'll get to see Wolverine with the Avengers. Bread and circuses at its finest.

Disney now owns what 80% of hollywood now? They owned 60% of hollywood before this acquisition… Wait let me double check before I say something stupid… Yeah Fox was responsible for 20% of hollywood's profits for 2016; yeah Disney has a near monopoly on the entire industry now.

All they gotta do now is buy out Sony pictures and I can actually see that happen, cause Sony pictures had the worst financial year of their company this year. If Disney buys them out now they would get them for pennies on the dollar.

If they buy DC we are fucked, at least the kingdomhearts fanbase will be really happy (assuming they reboot the series after the finale which I find likely).

Warner Bros is only worth $28 billion which is chump change for Disney.

In that case this video is relevant (Warning spoilers):

so does this mean Peter's going to be a Kingdom Hearts character like people were speculating?

Peter and Sora would be best friends.

Ill take back everything I just fucking said if they did this.

A possible thing they could do is it sora had a attack called "pocket sand".

Xenomorphs are now a Disney princess.

Aliens have a queen. Daughters of the queen are princesses. Therefor all Xenomorphs are disney princesses.

In all seriousness though I think this is a horrific thing. Mainly because I'm getting real sick of the copy paste hack of Disney movies and knowing they plan to do the same to some of my favorite franchises like the Alien and Predator franchises sickens me. Most modern Disney movies are just like drinking a diet soda. You get some nice flavor while you drink it but 12 seconds later the taste is gone and it passes through you like it never even showed up.

I'm more than okay with that.

I'm going to be a little bit of a shitbird here, but generally speaking what tends to happen in these sorts of situations is that the big companies tend to produce mass media that is metaphorically safe until a new product comes out that is something different enough to attract a large number of followers.

To phrase it another way for the next five to ten years Disney is going to continue pumping out movies that are too formulaic until a competitor comes out with a movie that may not financially outsell them but has enough popularity to disrupt Disney's monopoly.

The upside is that metaphorically speaking eventually Disney is going to blow their own brains out when audiences start demanding something that isn't formulaic and Disney doesn't listen to them and continues to pump out formulaic movies.
The downside is that if you're a fan of scifi or superhero movies whatever is popular next isn't going to be either of those too.

Tldr;
2020 audiences, "Okay Disney this is getting tiring please stop making formulaic movies"
Disney, "but formulaic movies are safe movies"

2022 audiences, "Okay Disney we're starting to get serious tired of formulaic movies"
Disney, "We're going to keep making formulaic movies until people stop buying them"

2025 competitor, "We may not have as much money as Disney, but we poured our soul into this product to try and make it as good as we can with what money we have"
Audiences, "I fucking love this!"
