the Internet 'kill switch'

"A US Senate committee has approved a wide-ranging cybersecurity bill that some critics have suggested would give the US president the authority to shut down parts of the Internet during a cyberattack. Senator Joe Lieberman and other bill sponsors have refuted the charges that the Protecting Cyberspace as a National Asset Act gives the president an Internet "kill switch."

wanting thoughts on it, and to ask… if it happens, can we back trace it.. and if we do, will the consequences never be the same?

I agree. No one person (or small group of people) should be able to control it like this.

I realize that there is a legitimate counter-argument, and I probably wouldn't be able to argue against it intelligently.

But Still! :/

EDIT: Move thread to "General"

here is a few URL's.

Heres the bill itself.

Although I dont agree on shutting down any of the internet, since that is actually some ones property, and that violates the constitution, I do agree on Cyber security laws.

But than again, I think commercial internet, and user internet should be some what separate to allow certain laws.

"Any society that would give up a little liberty to gain a little security will deserve neither and lose both." – Benjamin Franklin

Everyone knows Anon controls the internet.

And he can easily take it away.

And that is the issue.

yeah, sure why not. i'm not doing anything.

Our nation is in great need of a Revolution, in my eyes anyway. if left alone, it will get to far out of our hands to fix it with out harming our nation to the breaking point… again, in my eyes.

The internet is a world created by people, for all people, created to be used and regulated by all people together, not a handful of people who would seize control of community property and use it in ways unintended for the people it was used for.

something like, 'we the people'… 'For the People By the people'? they got a hold on that real good… the Internet is just something else they will try to gain control over. They will do to us with the internet like all other freedoms we had and were turned from freedoms to 'Privileges'.

And once china drops the stocks over here, we are gonna hit bottom real quick, the only reason we are lasting so long is because we are the currency standard.

The real problem with our government is that it really does not need to change, but we on the other hand have to change to change everything else.

Edit

Also I bet "change" was an inside joke.
