Karma is like Oil, you can never have enough. Except for when the Karma Well bursts and floods the Gulf of Mexico. In which case you're screwed.

The karma will show on your profile and on your posts. The karma displayed on your profile is a total of all the karma that you have received, whereas the karma displayed on your individual posts is the karma that you have gained/lost for that particular post.
