On the topic of gaming in general, China has now heavily limited the online playtime to 3 hours on Friday to Sunday (1 hour each day) on a specific time for people under 18, which leads to a few takes going around that Gamergate would never happen if kids play 3 hours a week while unironically supporting a very normal country that is China.

And already right off the bat, they included TheQuartering Tim Pool even though I don't recall them being in 2014 at all.

Expect some really biased statements that will most likely come from RationalWiki or Wikipedia, and completely ignore the others.

As for The Serfs documentary, it seems like there might be some revisionist history. #Gamergate got attached to the Quarterlilng during his Magic exposure campaign with Wizards of the Coast. He got banned from that community when he investigated and found out a good portion of magic judges were not allowed to be near kids. He asked for background checks, and because it was an ethical inquiry into gaming ethics on top of being accused of harassing a booth babe around the same time (He mentioned her but didn't really do anything) he was thrown in with #gamergate.

He did run a MTG channel before he became the Quarterling called Unsleaved Media.

It appears it might be revisionist as Tim Pool and the Quarterling surged to the forefront of news discussion in 2018-2021. When the big news reviewers at the time of 2014-2015 (gamergates biggest flare up) were Mundane Matt and Phillip De Franco.

So, they won't interview Mister Metokur (Internet Aristocrat), the man who is indirectly responsible for the hashtag being made in the first place?

I'm pretty sure they won't include him, or even mention Totalbiscuit at all.

The documentary is gonna include Nathan Grayson and Shaun, it will be biased as fuck when you only focus one side.

It's a "we'll have to see" situation. Just because he wasn't shown in the trailer (Metkour/Aristocrat videos used copyrighted stills for parody) he was the kickoff for the quinspiracy that snowballed into #Gamergate.

Until the documentary comes out, we'll have to standby until we can verify with our own records.

What I think is interesting is that usually the people that are guilty of some kind of abuse are men. Not very many women are exposed for being abusive or awful people.

Also, I recall back in the day the IGDA took the anti-GG stance and was accused of blacklisting GG supporters. Things like this are why I'm glad for not taking the anti-Gamergate side, because these people do so many messed up things despite accusing others of the same stuff.

2. I find it amazing that the IGDA to actually have to take action once the complaints are made into public after all these years. Whoever is handling those complaints either didn't took it seriously and didn't look for more information from those people, or passed it off as a troll/GamerGate thing.

For those not in the know, Brianna Wu is one of those re-emerging names that has repeatedly claimed they were a victim of Gamergate in order to generate some form of income/political power/fame.

Funny you mention her since I was gonna post in relation to this thread because of people that were tied to GamerGate, here are some tweets from Brianna Wu and Zoe Quinn.

Look I won't lie I was not necessarily pro-gamergate but this people need to let it go gamergate was like years ago and they are clearly milking it

I never paid much attention to Wu beyond the Kiwi Farms thread she had back when she was relevant, all trans sperging of Kiwi Farmers aside, and like you I wasn't much pro-GG that eventually went to seeing all sides as "autistic screeching" but yes, GG was years ago. This is just trying to milk whatever is left from a dead horse. What else can one even make from GamerGate beyond the 100th article trying to say how GamerGate led to something like the Capitol Hill raid or another Chan thread with OP saying how GamerGate needs to keep going or whatever.

I've seen some people say she was just a troll, though that assertion is making some sense.

Also, I remember she admitted to running a fake "dudebro"-type account that was trying to be pro-GG, so writing a show like this is right up her alley.

Apparently Gamergate was made solely for porn stuff totally not about video games censorship in general, according to Vaush.

Him not realizing that Sony had did plenty of censorship and even to games in DMC5 (still censored in Europe version), if anyone even paid attention to what was posted in the first Gamergate thread.

Jimquisition made a 14 minute video all because of the Scott Cawthon being a Christain by belief, and got into a fight with Erik Kain and a bunch of randos in Twitter most o the time Sterling is not even talking about video games at all.

You missed the part where Sterling is the one that threw the punch first and made the video into this in a nutshell.
There's literally no reason for Sterling to slowly devolve into Quarterpounder tiers of drama. Sterling knows better than this.
